guys,

im tracing down a low voltage condition at the coil. i started taking resistance measurements and found one that is vry interesting... from the 12R wire on the firewall bulkhead to the 12P wire coming out of the other firewall bulkhead (basically the 12R and 12P meet up at the ignition switch... through the switch)... i get 43 ohms. that seems like an aweful lot. didnt change whether key was on or not.

does that sound right to you guys or is there a problem there?

thanks all
jeff

I'm assuming you have the electrical portion of the igniton switch disconnected and ohming the terminals right otherwise you will need a need a new meter soon if the key is on. 43 ohms would be pretty high on anything new but not what it would be on the older stuff. You still have the restistor wire setup and the stock coil I guess. 12R is to the horn relay and 12P is to the coil right?

ok,, so i got the ignition switch out and i get 0 ohms between the ign and bat terminals. great.

But, now i am measuring the 35 ohms between the 12R and 12P wires on the back of the ignition switch plug. Guess ill keep tracing things out tomorrow, but any ideas?

I seem to remember when i did the CS 105 amp conversion that i had to install a 35 ohm resistor inline to the brown wire going to the alternator. that got anything to do with it???

thanks guys

Isn't the 12P a resistor wire?

no, the 12 gauge pink wire is not resistive ... at least, i didnt think was supoposed to be. the white cloth wire that connects to it is, but i dont have that hooked up to anything. i removed its connection at the firewall so that i could run a regular wire right to my msd coil. so the resistive wire is not connected to anything and shouldnt change the resistance of the coil/ignition circuit.

any other ideas?

thanks guys
