They use a Dart Iron eagle block with spread oil pan rails and a raised cam location. Check em' out at http://www.shafiroff.com/472_675_engine.asp

Chevy HP just did a article on it also. People would think your a moron when you told them what it was. I'd love to have one.

Tall deck block --- 4.200" bore x 4.25" stroke.

Thats getting a bit nutty with a small block IMO. For $12 grand I could build one hell of a BBC.

I have the Dart rocket block in my car, It is the most expensive think I have ever built. Nothing from a factory small block will work except the timing chain cover! My 18 degree heads don't help much either.
Ultimately the motor makes massive HP for a small block, I dont know of any other small block around that can make these kind of HP numbers with pumpgas. But you'd be better off building a low dollar motor and supercharging it!

I already posted this somewhere else but Sonny Leonard has made a 504" SB that has a 4.25" bore x 4.44" stroke.

That's very true, but, trying fitting that BB in between the fenders of a shoebox Nova, I think that's where the conveniance of a massive SB comes into a play ;) ...I'd love to have one, that's for sure graemlins/thumbsup.gif

"Shoebox" Nova, '63-'67 have a very tight engine bay. A BB is doable, SB is MUCH easier.

I wouldn't think about putting a BB in a "shoebox" Duece UNLESS I opted for the kit that does away with all the stock uni-body subframing and inner fenders!!

Then a BB will fit perfect, imho...

Now THAT would be a DANDY ride, imho...

PS.,

(Maybe better try a Chevette or a Vega???)...

I guess another part of the "kool" factor is the bragging rights of that big of a SB, and the look on people's faces when they are told. :D
