Sorry, I know everyone's always asking cam advice but here goes.

427+0.030, 10:1 (SRP medium-dome pistons), Merlin iron oval-port heads. Going in a 69 Camaro, ~3300 lb. I can swap in 3.90 gears if needed, but the car has 3.08s currently.

Looking for something streetable that runs on 91 octane but with enough potential to dip into the 11-sec range. Thanks everyone!

Tony, you have to at least look at the Lunati 402A3LUN, the 276/284. Man, it has to be one of the best "hot street" cams out there, especially for a lil rat. 11's through a 3.08 cog huh!? smile.gif

Yup, I nominate that cam as "world's best" hot street BBC cam!

Hey Gene,
Nah, the 3.08s aren't permanent. :D What's the torque/hp potential for the 276/284? When is it prudent to consider the 288/296? I don't know the specs on either of these cams but I'm thinking something along the lines of 236/242 @ 0.050 and .550-ish lift, 110LSA would fit the bill nicely. Thanks for your thoughts, everyone.

I'll second Gene's nomination of the 276/284 Lunati. The idle sounds real nice. :D

Can't tell you what it did to performance yet 'cuz it's raining down here :(

Maybe tonight if I can get the springs swapped around (add inners back in). It's the perfect cam for a 10:1 big block motor IMO. I did a lot of research and reading and it's the cam I settled on for my 460.

You don't need the 3.90's either. 3.55's would work just fine with the cam - Harold says 3.23's or better with a 2400+ stall converter.

BTW - I have the cam card in electronic format if you'd like a copy. Let me know and I'll email it to you.

Troy.

Nothing wrong with the CompCams XE 274 H either.I switched from LS6 solid in my 454 and the motor is very happy.Sounds about the same if not a bit more grumpy.

Troy, could you email that to me? I'll put in in my "showroom" space and then link to it.

in a 427 its s 6800 rpm cam, in a 454, maybe 6500.

Tony, I didn't want to get much bigger in a 427.
