Stopped at a light here at school 300 miles from home...upon resumption of traffic I get a thump instead of second gear.
After a $40 tow like 8 blocks I called my dad, can build another 350 or a 700 tomorrow, and I can either have the car ready to roll by Mon-Tues or wait and have a driveshaft cut ect for the 700
What are the opinions on which I should go with?

What size gear do you have? What kind of motor does the car have in it? I'd say if you can to go with the 700R4. We have about 700 hp (on nitrous) going to a 700. It's going mid 11's in the quarter. Thats launching it with slicks too. Hasnt given us any trouble, other than the convertor (stock corvette convertor 2000 stall). I like the overdrive and the low first gear. I dont know that I'd put it behind a high torque big block though. I would recommend putting in the new Raybestos clutches if you build one. We blew one 700 up because of heat. And these new clutches dont produce so much heat.

its just a mild 355 and 3.08 gears but I'm not against a lower gear.
I will admit i have problems being easy from light to light ;)

Whoever built it made the 1-2 shift VISCIOUS. I have 3.08 gears and it would bark second and try to chirp 3rd with 295/50s...prolly left a check ball out or something.
I guess after like about 60.000 miles or more of that kinda abuse it had it coming

Turns out it was converter failure that led to its demise...
New 700 was built today, going in tomorrow, picking it up this weekend. I think its gonna be fun
