CR is closer to 10.15 to 10.24 than 9.75. The 274 cam matches up with this very well. You may want to up the stall a bit to around 2000 rpm. I don't know anything about Howard cams.

I run a Howard solid currently in my street Nova. Its a whole lot bigger than the one your looking at. To the tune of 268/278@.050. I cant comment on track times just yet but what i will tell you is this. For being as big of a cam as it is, its fairly quiet. Its not quiet by any means, but much more quiet than you would expect for a cam of that nature. I discussed this with a guy down at the local speed shop and he sure enough had the same thing with his Howard cam in a BBC. I then discussed this with a certian cam designer from another company who was firmiliar with Howard cams, and he said it was because of there typically slow exaust opening. What that means is the cam will be easy on valvetrain parts, but if it means anything besdies that i couldnt tell ya. just sharing some info with you. I will say though the cam does "pipe up" conciderably around 2500rpm.
