I guess that kind of answers my question in the NW forum.

Man, she really loves you to let you mess with a carb in the kitchen.

My wife did bring me a coffee out to the garage while I was cleaning mine up tonight.

But carb rebuild in the house ? I don't think that would've floated her boat. :noway:

I've assembled clean carb parts on the kitchen table, on a protective surface. The trick is to wait til she's not home to do it.:)

Wait till your wife catches you cleaning valvetrain parts in the dishwasher.

It does a real nice job, BTW.:D

Clean or not, the 'carb smell' is kinda foul.

Many moons ago we rebuilt a 402 in the apartment front room. Still surprised to this day the neighbors did not complain about the smell, but we did have a couple of fans on. Wife got a little testy about grime getting into the kitchen, that area was hands off. Different now, if I even get a little grease or other chemical on my clothes I need to take them off before coming into the house. Neighbors wife has gotten used to seeing my lily white legs and back out her kitchen window, I alway have on a nice pair of colored FOTL for her...

Desk? What's wrong with you? Use the dining room table like the rest of us.

Might as well mention that cleaning transmission valve bodies in the sink, and heating them in the oven to dry works very well also.

Then there is the classic putting a thermostat in a pan of hot water to check the opening temperature....

I tend to bring parts in the house for refurbishing also. The key with the wife is to get her involved right off the bat. Example: "Honey can you please hold this piece so I can get the rest of this stuff in". This automatically gets her involved and makes her feel important. Works everytime for me. "I couldn't have gotten that together without your help"! Always say this too.:D

I had to move an old Quadrajet carb, an old Chevy steering wheel (still don't know what it's from), and an intake manifold from my bedroom closet to make room for my GF's when she moved in... LOL

Hey, you know gas that may drip from the bowls could clean your desk off REALLY good!

:D

Man, I should have taken a pic of my K&N filter in my kitchen sink yesterday. The hot water does a much better job cleaning it.

Just don't clean your K&N filters in the bathtub. :)
