Ive heard of an L88 clutch, Can someone let me know the performance and part # And was it a single or dual disc, thanks...mike

The L-88 Clutch was somewhat popular back in the day ( late 60's to early 70's ).It was a single disc
diaphram pressure plate with approx 3000-3100 lb static pressure and used the now obsolete " Rag " style disc.... These disc's actually had linen woven
into them ( strange as that may seem )...Way Way back when they used to use leather and cork in clutches.

Anyhoo modern disc materials are totally different and generally considered better than the older materials.There really wasnt anything magic about it...it's only magic was that it was used in L-88's and therefore precieved to be great.It really wasnt any better than the aftermarket ones avail back then.

Al correct me if I'm wrong, but think I found the L88 and LT1 cluthces the same, 10.5" on the smaller nodular iron flywheel. So they were lighter than std gm HD clutches.
