11sec69 Jul 25th, 04, 3:10 PM I just got a 74 SS El camino. It runs but is is pretty rough shape. It has a 454/TH400. What do you guys know about this engine and heads? I'm looking to build a drag motor out of this to replace my 355. The complete car was a grand to I didn't bother even pulling the #/s. Bomber '67 Jul 25th, 04, 8:36 PM Given that it is 30 years old what is in there now may not be original to the car. Best bet would be to get the numbers off the heads and block and go from there. I would expect a two bolt block and open chamber oval port heads - there are guys on Team Chevelle who have built such engine foundations into mid 10 second Chevelles. Thomas | ||
