Well, I ran across this and wanted to see what you guys think. No paperwork=no way to prove it is even a real SS (I know for sure the grille is incorrect). What's it worth? Any ballpark ideas on what it would take to get it functional and painted?

I don't think SS's had the cloth bench option.

For what it's worth, Yes you could get a 70 SS with a blue cloth bench interior. I had a documented LS-6 years ago with a blue cloth bench seat interior. I sold it to Dave Birdwell who is a member here. He did a body off restoration and sold it. I wonder where its at now? As for the car at hand, it is strange that there are no dash pictures or cowl tag info. If he's not a Chevelle guy maybe he didn't know that stuff was important?

I also owned a 70 SS with a black cloth bench seat. And it was Monaco orange.

What is your budget and your ability to work on cars? Do you want it to look factory fresh when you finish?

Interesting car, another possible dealer who doesn't know what he has? No important pictures or info that would tell the real history of the car, go figure? If that car was even remotely a real LS5 anyone with half a brain would be posting all the factual info pertaing to why he believes it to be real. I just don't get it. Where's the pictures of the vin pad, casting numbers and date codes? Where's the picture of the rear end stampings? What you see here is a shiny 512 motor that's never been started and that's just about it. You have to wonder why.

Like it has been said here many times. Without documentation, treat it like any 70 model Malibu. If it has SS stuff like the dash, buckets, 12 bolt, etc, I think it's fair to allow for that. For argument sake you could call an SS dash a grand, bucket seats a grand, console up to a grand, and so forth. That's if these items are nice enough to keep in the car. Just keep in mind that when all is said and done and the project is complete, you still have a clone car with no papers.

For this area (Dallas), a decent 70 Malibu project roller with some rust might be worth about 3K . Figure in what you think the engine & extra stuff might be worth and go from there. Good luck

Looks like a good project, but I'd have to say the pictures of the interior look like they meant to miss the gauges on the dash.

He claimes to "not be a Chevelle Expert" but he took a really good picture of the steering shaft. I would say its not an SS but you would have a really nice start on one. I would give around 4 to 5 grand if I was going to keep it for myself.

I sent a message to the seller about a pic of the dash. He has not responded. There is a reason for that.
