I know there are a few here that own these and I have a question....

My wife and I have a landcruiser with a six cyl and it gets terrible gas mileage ....is this normal if not what to look at first....Runs great ....We went on a little trip today....50 miles and used up $15.00 in gas......every last drop......I was never over 70mph.....

Put a small block in it, get better mileage, and have way more fun! graemlins/hurray.gif

Hey Scott,
I was checking out your Chevelle. You didnt have any problems getting those rear wheels to fit? I was debating between 15x8 and 15x10's How do you like it?

Scott,
Are we talking about an old (1970's) LC or a new one with the aluminum head ? My brother in law used to have an older one and I doubt if it got any better than about 6-7 mpg. I think it must have had a 4.11 or 4.56 rear smile.gif It would pull a house, but forget about mileage. I am not real sure about the newer ones, but would not be surprised to hear that 8-9 mpg is about right for 70 mph.

I have an 89 LC FJ62 with overdrive...usually gets 10-11 in town and 15 on the freeway if I'm lucky! Great truck but it's REALLY thirsty....

Bowtie,
Advance Adapters in Paso Robles, California has all the parts to put Chev V-8 (and other engines, too) into a Landcruiser. www.advanceadapters.com (http://www.advanceadapters.com)

I built a 454 Chevy for my uncles Land Crusier. And I am quite sure that he got his adapters from Advanced Adapters.

I believe they are pretty heavy, so see if you can increase the lower to midrange torque somehow (not sure on what's available aftermarket, but as someone mentioned, changing the motor to a (stroker) SBC always is always a nice start, lol)...also, double check all the normal maintenance 'details', like plugs, filters, ignition/fuel stuff, emissions (PVC, cat) and even vacuum lines, to be sure it's running in good shape...heck, even tire pressure makes a big difference...

My 98 ZJ gets pretty good mileage, even with the larger V8 (360cid), fulltime 4wd and decent weight (4,300+), while many others who have the same vehicle (or even with the smaller 318) complain of crappy mileage, I think the difference are the details, like I mentioned above; does help alot! Well, and gotta use your head on the 'go' pedal...that's where the torque comes in though, he he...
