: My 70SS was built in Atlanta......
forever young Jul 24th, 08, 10:27 AM Hi, My 70 SS was built in the Atlanta plant in Jan. '70. I bouught it from a guy in Iowa. Where did the Atlanta plant ship their cars to? Did they ship to the south / mid atlantic, central USA, northeast or did they ship nationwide? I am doing alot of research trying to find out where my Chevelle was originally sold and am spinning my wheels and hitting dead ends everywhere. I realize it is 38 yrs ago but I am having fits trying to establish any kind of lineage. VIN checks don't work and even the last DMV it was titled to won't help. Any help out there is welcomed.
Thanks, Roland in NY

forever young Jul 24th, 08, 5:37 PM Thanks Dale, Do you know if they ever shipped cars to the NY area? or were thet minly middle America?
Thanks, Roland in NY
DaleM Jul 24th, 08, 6:22 PM Can't say about NY as don't have any examples as such. I'd guess NY would strickly be Baltimore built cars. But one never knows, I have some Baltimore sheets shipped to Illinois, Virginia & Pennsylvania (same for Atlanata), and North & South Carolina as well as NY, Maine, Connecticut & Canada.
How GM decided where cars were shipped to is beyond me. :)
Dave Birdwell Jul 24th, 08, 10:39 PM New York cars I have sheets for were all Balto cars. My Hazard Kentucky car was an Arlington car, so go figure...

Just about all the cars in the West Tennessee area came from Arlington a few from Atlanta. The farther East you go the more Atlanta cars were seen. Just FYI I had a '70 LS5 Convertible that was a Van Nays built car and was sold a to a dealer in Decatur,IL. Go figure....why not KC?
AMCC Jul 25th, 08, 5:43 AM My LS6 was built in Atlanta in February '70 and sold new in Ohio.
elcamino Jul 25th, 08, 9:10 AM Its all was scheduling by central office. Spread the work load, they had other cars to build at those plants. Chevelle was only a small part of GM production schedule.
bowtie 70 Aug 8th, 08, 10:52 AM my 70 was built in atlanta . also in feb and was supposed to have been sold new in ponotoc ms. but im at dead end, or a yeild for now
animal69 Aug 8th, 08, 11:06 AM I've bought new GM vehicles all here in MI and they have been built in MI, WI, OH, ON,TX, and GA. With all the inter dealer swaps I think cars were shipped over a wide area.
