I have a small block with the msd 6al (which I dont think has anything to do with the problem but I want to be thurough) and after I start the car, the starter keeps on spinning. Sometimes It shuts off when I turn the motor off, but I have had to disconnect the battery to kill it before. It was all working fine and then just started happening. Anybody have any input, I'm thinking maybe a bad ignition switch.

Sounds like a bad or broken spring. I ahd one that was weak and wouldn't fully disengage a time or two. Does the starter still spin after it shuts off? If that is the case then look for a wire that is crossed or rubbed bare where current could jump to it and give a constant flow.JMHO.

I had a starter that refused to disengage and it was due to clearances that were too tight between the starter and the flywheel. Make sure your flywheel bolts haven't loosened.
