Under 5k. The low mile rides like that are usually good deals for buyers. They are not real collectable and usually are bought buy folks looking for a clean driver and don't want to spend a lot of money. If it is a V6 it might garner a little more interest due to gas prices.

Older cars with low milage are not usually a bargin. A friend recently bought a '85 Impala with only 14,000 miles on it. She thought she got a steal but after having to replace almost every gasket and seal on it she could have bought a much later model.

I have had 4 Montes a 78, 81, and two 95s. The only regret was the 81 it was bought with low miles but still seemed to be plagued with problems, and that was when it was 3 or 4 years old.

I would look for a newer low mile car bargins are out there if you are patient. I feel I did good on my current daily driver. 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 with 24,XXX miles out the door for $4500. I have had it about a year and it drives just like brand new.

Sounds like a good candidate for a drag car. That's a fairly popular body style.

why would you take a clean, low mile car and make it a drag car? there's plenty of other ones out there to do that to. not that this is many peoples dream car, but anything 25+ years old and halfway desireable with 29k deserves to be respected a bit.

It's better than taking a rusty pile of junk, and putting a bunch of money into it. An '80 Monte is not going to be driven for fuel economy reasons, no matter what engine it has.

Most likely the car has a 267 V8. The beauty of that is that you can dump it when the cam fails and drop in any 350.

It's not a turbo 3.8 Buick powering it by any chance? It would have a hood bulge and diecast Turbo 3.8 lettering on the bulge. You could do that in '80 & '81. They were not great that year, but of course the Buick V6 turbo got refined and earned some respect in a couple of years.

Heck, even if the seals are all dried out, if the car is otherwise well preserved it would be a nice car. The lockup converters may have made their debut in '80 and they were problematic in those early years.

These cars are somewhat desireable, but not worth much.
