: Value Of A '70 Convertible
RyanNilcea05 Jul 22nd, 08, 8:30 PM I know I don't have any pictures, but a guy from my work told about hi brother. He's trying to sell his '70 Malibu Convertible. It's a 250/powerglide. It's Castillian Bronze with saddle interior. 4 wheel drums, power steering, no a/c, am/tape. I took a look at it, it's VERY nice. No rust or dents, just a few good scratches. It's got 70,000 miles. The interior is almost perfect. Just a little wear on the front seat. It was his mother's car. It's been sitting for about 15 years in a garage, covered nicely. I believe it's very rare. I fell in love with the car, but I don't want to make a bad decision based on feelings. He's looking for $6,000.
70ChevelleRagtop Jul 22nd, 08, 8:35 PM While it sounds like it doesn't have much for options, if it is in as good of condition (solid floors, frame, trunk, quarter, fenders, etc...) as you describe then I would be jumping on it for $6k. A nice piece of history right there. If you don't want it, tell me where it is and I'll buy it for $6k!!
704EVER Jul 22nd, 08, 8:36 PM 6K for a rag top? Don't wait long, it will be gone!!!
chevellon70 Jul 22nd, 08, 8:38 PM 6k, wow, take it and run, i got my 70 coupe with no engine for 3000 with the interior kinda messed up
RyanNilcea05 Jul 22nd, 08, 8:41 PM I love that it's all original. I've never seen that color before. It looks sharp. I have every intention on keeping it the 250 with the glide. It's too nice to alter.
704EVER Jul 22nd, 08, 9:42 PM What are you wasting your time replying for, go get it!!!!
BlueSS454 Jul 22nd, 08, 10:08 PM That color isn't a 1970 color unless it was ordered and will have a - - where the paint code would be. I'd grab that car before it's gone.
RustBucket68 Jul 23rd, 08, 2:21 PM One of less than 400 built, best as I can tell. Please buy it before some redneck gets it and gives it the YeeHaw treatment... :(

bigskycountry Jul 23rd, 08, 6:53 PM Sounds like a great investment to me. It would already be in my garage.
mr 4 speed Jul 23rd, 08, 7:13 PM I would buy 10 of them at $6000 each!!! :D

RyanNilcea05 Jul 24th, 08, 9:59 AM I'm struggling to come up with the $6K. He's got a flood of people looking at it today, so my chances aren't looking good :(

Checked all my books. This is what I found:
1970 no code 67 for Chevrolet but Pontiac had Castillian Bronze code 67.
1969 Chevrolet code 67 is Burgundy
1971 Chevrolet code 67 is Classic Copper

I would imagine so!
The 1970 Camaro had a paint code 67, Classic Copper. Might have been one of those special runs of certain non-RPO paint jobs that Chevrolet did quite a bit of in 1970. i.e., Citrus green, Hugger orange, Sunflower yellow.
chevelleshack Jul 24th, 08, 8:10 PM Don't worry about coming up with the cash real quick , you should be able to get it off e-bay in a few weeks for triple the price !!

Correct for GM, Pontiac in 1970.
Possibly a late 70 car.
Can the date code be checked on the trim tag.
1972convss454 Jul 24th, 08, 11:13 PM Ryan if I could not buy it I would make dang sure no one else stole it!!!

Look out EBay
tireburner396 Jul 25th, 08, 5:44 PM Ryan, what part of Mass are you from? Please next time you come across a deal like this and you can't swing it, please let a fellow chevelle guy know about it!! I would have loved to have that car. It sounds like the twin to my brother's. His car was an original 6 cyl. I'm not sure of the original color, but it's a tannish with saddle interior. no power top either.

You mean STOLE it! $6,000 was a bargain. Less than that is nearly theft!
ss68rag Jul 30th, 08, 1:13 PM That will be the next LS 6 barn find on ebay next spring.

That looks to be a Canadian paint code chart, maybe the car was assembled in Canada.
Too bad you missed a good deal
Bcool Jul 30th, 08, 1:26 PM Seems like a lot of the 381 6cyl converts are around this area... including mine that's about 10 that I've seen or heard of in Ma or NH..... mine is a Balt. built 6cyl with power top not much else.
Sorry you missed that one Ryan...

Yep. Nice 32,000 mile original LS-6, pulled from the barn and given a meticulous, nut-and-bolt restoration
Or worse yet, it might wind up a "Donk" :( :(
RyanNilcea05 Aug 1st, 08, 1:24 PM I found the guy who bought it. He doesn't live too far away... He's got a 540 and a six speed waiting for it :(
