: Fastest "street car" in the country?

My machinist tells me last night about a guy he's friends with near Berwick Pa. by the name of Andy Jenson(spelling?) who's either working on or claims to have the fastest street car in the country. Says he ran the car(60-something vette) at Englishtown either last week or the week before and did a 6.-something 1/4 mile. Sorry for lack of information but know that some of you guys frequent Englishtown and probably have seen him there. My machinist says he always kids Jenson about who he gets to inspect the car and says it's not what he would call "streetable".

He told me he used to have a 69 Camaro that he ran at a track nearby me(Numidia). Ran 8.04 without nitrous and 7.8 with it.

I'm not a track pounder like most in this forum(never raced) but thought you guys might know him or could tell me something about himself or his car?

There's a big difference between street legal and streetable as you are probably aware. We run in the 6's with an altered that weighs approx 2000 lbs and it is making 2000HP. You aren't going to be able to make 2000 HP and have the thing live very long on the street. We only get about 75 passes out of a set of $800 connecting rods. That's less than 20 miles! Of course we are running on the edge of detonation and turning 8400 RPM through the traps but let's get serious - It isn't a "street car" if it runs 6's.

JMHO - Troy.

he has a green 60's vette, if it was him, he was along way from home.

Kirk,

Still looking for that email. Do you know anything about this guy? I'll get more information from my machinist and post it.

Sorry about that Scott - I tried to send a pic of a blue "street legal" vette that we saw run at the Super Chevy show last summer at Maple Grove. It had a small block and ran in the high 6's thru the mufflers. It was impressive. I got some good shots of it in the pits (including the license plate on the back), but I didn't get to talk to the guys working on it. They were getting ready to run again and I didn't want to bother them. I'll resend the pic tomorrow (I don't have it here now) Kirk

Yep,Andy has his own engine shop, builds some high end motors.I have both his old camaro, and his vette on film.It sounded like he used to leave the line at about 8000 rpms. That camaro would carry the front end about 10" off the ground for about 100 feet.I think he has the fastest small block car.

Randy,
What the heck are you doing up at that time of the night? I've never seen the car but just heard my machinist talking about it. Pretty neat that you've got a picture of it. Is it really street legal?

What moldy money? I did hear my machinist say that most of the engines he's got over there are $18,000 or more! I'd have to sell one of my kids!!

I've seen that car quite a few times at Cecil's Street Car Shootouts each month. In fact, the picture that was taken on the Brodix site is from Cecil.

He competes in the pro mod class and is a crowd favorite. It runs well in the sixes at over 200 mph and is a 472 small block by what the hood emblems say.

I've also seen it backfire nitrous three times in a row qualifying then com back an run a six second pass.

One of the most incredible cars you'll ever see, believe me...........
