3.08 and 3.31 are pretty common.

The '65 axles are harder to come by but that doesn't necessarily make them more expensive. I can't be much help on the price as I haven't bought but one and that was six years ago.

I was told the case gutted in good shape that has not been modified is worth 500 to 750. If you buy a 65 12 bolt from a rebuilder it will probably run you 2000 to 2500. That should give you an idea what is worth, somewhere in between. Unless you get a deal on one usually better off to buy a newer model.

I'd offer $500.00 & see what he says, Can't hurt. Take CASH - that always helps.

I bought a complete 65 12 bolt last winter with 3.42/Eaton/good axles for $600. I thought it was a good deal.....

Sounds like a good deal if its in usable shape...

If the rearend is in usable shape, as-is (maybe change fluid, etc), then $500 sounds pretty good for a used Posi... People usually "advertise" these for $800-$1200, used, so maybe the guy will be expecting more...

IF not a posi, and/or needs a complete rebuild, then I'd say $200-$350 (assuming everything will be replaced)...

FYI, in '65 ALL cars equipped with a 327 received the 12 bolt. $500 would be a good deal.

Have a 12 bolt with the code: KDC 196 B stamped on the axle tube. Kinda searched the chevelle index year? gear ratio?
KDC 196 B LOoks like it could be a 2:73 ratio. How can I tell the year.? Just measured axle flange to axle flange is 60 1/2"s 65-67??
