What is a JE 396 engine block worth. I am looking for one and found one at a swap meet this weekend. It needs to be bored at least .060 to clean it up. His bottom dollar is $350 is that a good price?

Talk to the seller and send it to a shop to have it magna fluxed and thouroughly checked out. If it's good, that's a decent deal if it has the main caps and is in good shape.

Be carefeull because you said it may need .060 to clean up and if its already at .030-.060 over its a problem so check that out too.

isnt it just a 60 over 402 piston then? Look in the classifieds. Ive tried selling a 60 over 396 block. and just not had any luck myself. jim
