: pics too large for showroom
65 SS Jul 20th, 08, 9:37 PM Al or ?
My last attempt to upload pics from my photobucket failed. It says they are too large. I have the size on small at p-bucket.
Sometimes the upload says succesful but they really don't load.
I could sure use some help please.
Thanks, Ron
Xtreme70SS396 Jul 20th, 08, 10:35 PM Open your photobucket pic in Microsoft photo editor, photoshop, or any similar program.
Once open, you can resize it. Should be a menu option. If you can size it so on-screen you see a decent sized picture (maybe 5" square up to maybe 8" square? on your screen) and you're viewing the picture at 100% of size, you've got it at a good size to save.
Another way to look at it is the file size. Open the showroom here, look at some pics and see how big they are, like 128k, etc.
Once done resizing, just do a "save as" to your computer. Then upload to the showroom here from your computer instead of directly from photobucket.
Dean Jul 20th, 08, 10:42 PM You're trying to copy pictures from a photo bucket account into your showroom here?
Our system does not do a great job of uploading from another source - usually they block it from happening as they are "hosting" the image.
I'd suggest uploading it from your own computer to our server.
Dave Jul 21st, 08, 4:36 AM Get Irfanview, it's free. Resize on Your computer, then upload to TC.

Yes.
I'll try the other suggestions now.
Thank you allRon
65 SS Jul 22nd, 08, 10:53 PM Al please.
I tried loading from my computer, from my pictures and my documents. Still no luck. It said succesfull again but they don't load.
I noticed my space allowed seems to be minimal compared to other users. I only have 1253. left with only 15 pics up.
Do I need more allowable space?
Are my pics to large in my showroom?
Thanks again for your help.
Ron
Xtreme70SS396 Jul 22nd, 08, 11:18 PM I'm showing you have 4 files loaded from April 4th, maybe that's part of the space usage.
Note when uploading photos, it initially tells you it was successful. At that screen, you must tell it to process before they "take".
Send me one of the photos Ron and I can check it out.
Mark is right, there is another step where the program asks you to name the photo after uploading and it's not very intuitive so it's easy to miss and then the photos are in limbo.

We'll get this sorted out for you.

65 SS Jul 24th, 08, 11:57 PM Well it's ME. My pictures need to be reduced on the computer. The next problem is I need to learn how to do that. I'll try the Irfanview or the photoshop.etc.
Thank you guys.

Dean Jul 25th, 08, 12:34 AM Gene McGill posted this and I’ve been using it ever since. You can resize a complete folder of pictures all at once and it works great.
Microsoft has a free power toy called "Image Resizer" that I use.
I can right click on the picture file, and am given the option to resize it, without opening it in an application first.
By default, it renames the small file and does not overwrite the original.
Here's a link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
