Hey all;
Recently purchesed a 68 chevelle, with all the stainless taken off (new paint).
I dont really know how to word it; but if you see the attached pics; thats what i would like to do. It is making the eyebrow mouldings, not hit the wheel's, instead; just make it flush with the bottem of the grille.
**EDIT**
This is NOT my car, just an example of what i would like to do.

Just get the 69SS eyebrow moldings. click here (http://www.paddockparts.com/Paddock/productr.asp?pf%5Fid=C953621&gift=False&0=dept%2Easp%2Cdept%5Fid%3D6%26menu%5Fid%3D%26Tree %3D%2CChevelle%2FMonte%20Carlo&1=dept%2Easp%2Cdept%5Fid%3D179%26menu%5Fid%3D%26Tr ee%3D0%2CChevelle%2FMonte%20Carlo%20Molding&2=product%5Ffamily%2Easp%2Cfamily%5Fid%3D3790%26Tr ee%3D1%2CChevelle%2FEl%20Camino%20Fender%20Molding&HSLB=False&mscssid=103B7100EA374128AFBBC11ACECCAB9B)

I called into chevelle.com, and they told me they would not fit; but then again, were not positive.

The 69 SS Moldings do not fit well and will look out of place. You need 1968 300 Deluxe moldings. They are short like the 69 SS moldings (actually a little shorter). No one reproduces them so you will need to put out a wanted ad (www.chevelles.com/classifieds) or get to hunting around. There were some available under the GM part number via www.partsvoice.com a couple of years ago but I expect they probably are not any more. The part number is in the assembly manual. (mine is at home so I can't look it up.)
Edit: This car has the 69 SS moldings on it and they don't look right to me.(hang down too far past the bottom of corner grille piece):

One more edit: Here is a thread from 2k5 (I guess it was 3 years ago I looked at partsvoice):

Thanks alot for both the replies. I lucked out and have the ORIGINAL manuals comming my way, body, assembily, and service ones...not the reprints which i think i got for a good price; so i will look in there.
the 69 does look a bit out of place with the extra hang, i guess the search is on for the 300dx's! I would hate to have to re-drill the holes, and put the full body worth of stainless on :(

yep, for sure the 300 deluxe pieces are the way to go. it drives me nuts when people remove the '68 side moulding but leave the factory 'hockey stick' moulding. it just looks like the car is missing the rest of the trim. but throw on the 300 corners and it looks just fine.

what you might want to do is buy a pair of repop stock eyebrows.then after installing them take some blue painters masking tape and tape off where you would like the eyebrows to end.then mark them with a pen or some thing with a fine point.now down from the first mark make a second mark the thickness of the eyebrow at that point(what maybe about a 1/4").remove both eyebrows then with a hacksaw or a cutoff wheel cut along the second line and remove the lower part of the eyebrow.i would then cut off the sides,from the second line up to the first line and then with a pair of hand folder or linesman plairs fold that 1/4" over to 90deg.

Wham; that was my exact thoughts and just picked up 2 orig. from ebay (under $20) last week; but you clarified it a bit more then what i was going to try to do! it seems the 300 parts like was stated are hard to come by; here's hopin' if the mod doesn't turn out!
