Hi,I am going through the rearend on my 67 chevelle, and when I started to take the axle bearing out I discovered with a little wiggling I can take it out without a puller. When it is in place there dosen't feel like there is any slack or any sign of it spinning in the race.Is this normal or is it something to be concerned about? Thanks!

I believe that is just fine. As long as it doesn't seem to be spinning inside the tube. I don't think they are a tight press fit.

I've always needed to use a puller and usually end up destroying the bearing in the process, but if it wasn't spinning I would think it'll be ok.

When I rebuilt mine, both bearings came out using hand pressure only. I thought I had a bad housing. The new ones had to be pressed in so I think that I'm ok. Don't know what causes this though.
