Where did they usually put it? I have found some hand written notes but no build sheet in the usual places.

Most Arlington build sheets have been found under the carpet just in front of the driver's seat floor (usually melted to the tar underlay). Don't be disappointed if it's not there as Arlington has a low percentage of build sheets found.

And I think I've heard of a couple people finding them rolled up behind the windshield pillar trim too...

It can also be down under the asphalt paper as well. Some are so discolored that you may mistake it for the covering of the sound deadener.

Agreed, don't just look at the floor and expect it to be lying there. Take a good hard look at the back of the tar barrier, more often than not, it's stuck to it and barely visible. It could be just as black as the barrier itself.

I found my build sheet last night. It was directly beneath the passenger seat, between the floor and the tar paper. It's dirty, but came out without a tear.
