The previous owner of my 65 drilled several holes in the metal dash for guages, brackets, switches, etc. No single hole is larger than a dime but I was wondering whats the best way to fill them in. Also, any prep work tips before the dash gets painted would be appreciated.

Saw a trick on a do it yourself TV show. They took a slab of metal (copper I think) and held it on one side of the firewall hole. The took a MIG welder to the opposite side of the hole. Weld material filled the hole but did not bond to the copper. Seemed to work prety good.

I saw that same show. It looked pretty simple the way they did it. And yea, it was copper.

if its such a small hole, could you glue a piece of metal behind it and just fill it with a thin coat of bondo? Im talking about using the panel adhesive type glue to hold the metal behind the hole. jim
