: Inside rearview mirrors

I've had two GM mirrors sitting on the shelf for over ten years now. They were taken out of a 69 Camaro and a 69 Firebird I restored back in the 90's. The stainless is very good and the grey moldings are also very good. The mirror glass itself is heavily stained on both of them. I have a few questions:

1) - Are the F-Body mirrors the same as A-Bodies and Full Size for that year?
2) - What might they be worth in their present condition?
3) - Would I spend more on getting the proper mirror glass replaced than what they might be worth after the replacement?

Appreciate it.

There was a post not too long ago about getting mirrors restored and IIRC it wasn't too unreasonable. I can't remember which forum it was in though. I believe my 69 Camaro mirror is shorter than the Chevelle mirror. Not 100% sure as my comparison is a 68 Chevelle vs a 69 Camaro but I may have gotten my Chevelle mirror from a 69 Parts car ( been quite awhile).

Here they are:

Try this gentleman. I have seen some of his work and they look good. Expect to pay $250.00 to $300.00. This is almost NOS price.

The name of the mirror restoration person is Robert Kauffman, New Cumberland, PA. 717-938-2731 or

If you go to Fall Carlise he will be in space N29. He will not be there during Spring Carlise. He was telling me that one year he attended spring Carlisle and they had 7" of snow.

Jan did an excellent job on 2 of my mirrors do not try and remove the silver on the back of the mirror after you get the mirror out of the plastic just send it to her.

I did a little digging around and came up with no firm answer on where the split was 10 inch vs 12 inch on the mirrors. Some say 68 others say 69. SO my guess is that most 69 Chevelles probably have the 12 inch mirror and I suspect yours are 10 inch.

here is a quote from the 10 inch mirror at Classic Industries:

Reproduction of the 1969 chrome backed mirror including a bright mirror- like finish on the rear casing as original. Also includes correct Guide lettering This mirror was originally installed on several different GM product lines including the following: 1961-69 Pontiacs, 1967-69 Firebirds, 1962-67 Chevy (except Nova), 1964 Chevelle (standard) 1965 Chevrolet Passenger vehicles, 1965-68 Chevelle, 1967-69 Chevrolet Passenger vehicles, 1970-1972 Nova's, and 1971-72 Pontiac X-body vehicles.

Hope this info help some.

I just sent a 12 inch mirror to Jan, it's 35.00 plus return shipping.

Jeff and Mike - thanks for the information and feedback.

They are indeed 10" mirrors. I'll just have to decide if it's worth it to get them redone after factoring in the restoration and shipping costs. I would probably have to get at least $75 for each when done and I'm not sure if they would really be worth that much.
