: To Scrap a Hood or Not to Scrap
bigskycountry Jul 18th, 08, 8:18 PM I have an Original Chevelle cowl hood (non flapping) However it has lots of bondo repairs from a previous owner, and I have since replaced it with an aftermarket hood. I know its not worth much, and I dont have the time to try to get $30.00 for it at a swap meet, but I just hate scrapping original parts. On the other hand I would like to have it out of the garage. Scrap it?
OrrieG Jul 18th, 08, 8:25 PM Craigslist, give it to someone else to use or that has the time to sell it. I'm the same way. I've been cleaning out my garage and getting rid of all the "made need it for a future project" stuff. Some I make money on (60's VDO guages for VW went to europe for $140) others I give a way (front disc brake set up for 71 Montego fits Torino and Ranchero). Think of it as karma, you give some and get some along the way.
350_Malibu Jul 18th, 08, 9:44 PM Where are you located, I'm sure someone here could use it! I know I could!
OutCast Jul 18th, 08, 9:50 PM The area under my sundeck is plugged with all my surplus Chevelle stuff. 3 68 Malibu hoods, inner and outer fenders...rough but fixable, and a myriad of other stuff I just feel too guilty to crush.
I might just need it someday.
Jim Mac Jul 18th, 08, 9:54 PM try 2 1/2 sets of wheels and tires, big blocks, turbo 400s, muncies. I keep it for my next project, but I swore off anymore projects. jim
Bow_Tied Jul 18th, 08, 10:41 PM I agree with Patrick.
bob_adamsky Jul 18th, 08, 11:02 PM It is only after you pitch something that you or a buddy will need it. Save it or pass it on to someone that wants it.
Jim Mac Jul 19th, 08, 12:13 AM A friend of mine gave me a wrecked cowl hood, I cut the dome off and welded it to a camaro hood. So there is uses for other peoples junk. jim
Bubba's 69 Jul 19th, 08, 12:22 AM Like Kyle said somebody here could use it. Time for the "pay it forward" thread to start back up.
I have an extra 69 SS hood with alot of BAD bondo work that I am trading for a mint 69 front bumper.
One mans junk is another man's treasure.
opivyrocks Jul 19th, 08, 1:30 AM im going through the same thing with a 67 ss hood, i think I am going to cut out the power humps and put them on my 67 truck hood.
