Guys I justed brought home my dream car, I went to looka t this 69 SS and the guy claimed he had no documents, but felt that the car was a true SS. Couple days prior to me heading down to look at the car, and he tells me that it was built in Canada ironically, because thats where I live. Well you can imagine the bells go off - hello ? Call GM Vintage. Well guess what, it comes back true blue with L34, M21, G80 posi trac etc I go look at it and its got the gauge cluster/tach also. Car has original panels, nice BC/CC paint but will need touch ups and some wet sanding, buckets, console, chrome and stainless are excellent, interior is real nice, underhood is in need of clean and detail and same for undercarriage, floors and trunk are original and excellent. I need to check the numbers on the block to see if the motor is original, so we'll see on that. I was not so worried about finding a numbers car, which is why I haven't rushed to do that. Car has original SS wheels. Its Lemans blue with black interior as on the build sheet, overall a real nice straight driver with lots of potential.

Any ideas on value ? I will try and post some when I figure that out.

Cheers.

Good job in finding that car. Have you looked at the trim tag to see if it has codes on it for the L34 and M21? Hard to give a value without lots of detailed pics. What other options?

Hey thanks. Yes, I left out most of the story last night when I was typing. The trim tag stated all options as shown on the build sheet. The previous owner had no idea the codes were right there. I was squinting to see what was written there, and when my eyes focused I saw L34M21 right in the middle of the series of characters. I beleive I was trembling a bit at that point.

I know the pics will tell give a better idea of condition, will post some shortly. I spent the afternoon cleaning and degresing the motor, and just got thru moving the alternator for a look see at the pad. You guesed it she matches the VIN and date code shown on the build sheet. No kidding - this is one of those stories that I read on these forums and dream of happening to me. I didn't "steal" the car, but given the originality, zero rot, color, combo, i am real pleased.

Thanks.

Guys, unfortunately my enthusiasm has been overshadowed by possible engine trouble. I am hoping to get some feedback on the Engine forum but I think my numbers motor just took a dump. Have a noticeable knock and oil pressure is off the chart. What a roller coaster ride, now I feel like crawling into the corner to lick my wounds :(

Very nice looking car, Lemans Blue is one of my favorites on a 69. I hope the motor problem works out for you. There's nothing worse than a new car and wham, the first problem. Take your time with the engine thing and look for suggestions from the guys. They won't steer you wrong. Good luck and keep your chin up!!!!
