STILL GOT PROBLEMS with carb, its throwing fuel up the vent tubes
I lower the fuel bowls and went rev, at the staring line do burnout the tires the problems came againg and I was launching with the carb very loaded .
I was running the car with my wife and kids back home and I do not know how to fix this problem so I park the car and enjoy the races ,and of course my new best . graemlins/hurray.gif

THANKS, I will verify the carb power valves ,What power valves I should be using with this cam ? if there is any guide to start?

The fuel bowls are ok but went the motor is rev high it throws fuel throw the vent tubes

Maybe your fuel pump is putting out to much pressure and blowing the needle off the seat when you rev it. What pump do you have? Do you have a pressure gauge? What about a regulator? Im just starting with the Holley's but it looks like they can take 7 or 8psi and not need a regulator.

Gotta give a thumbs up to a fellow Placer Gold Metallic Sprint owner. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Nice run! to do your power valves you should use a vaccum gauge. test manifold vac and then find out what it is the larger # power valve opens sooner smaller later. thats why you need to take reading on your ride. I can help pick one once I know vaccum reading and how you want the motor to react. :D

19NOVA72 , I got a #m4889 CARTER mechanical 120gph 7-8.5psi ,I installed a gauge in the line and it did not went over 7 p.s.i , I was thinking to install the regulator back with only 6.-6.5 psi to be sure there is not more pressures at high rpms.
BB485 ,Will take the vacuum pressure tomorrow and post the results .

Javier, once you get that engine leaned out a bit ( LEAN AND MEAN THEY SAY!), your mph should go up to over 100.

Change the oil! Running them rich like that really messes up the cylinder walls, and can taint the oil quickly. Not to mention it's not making anywhere near the power it's capable of.

The good news, YOU SHOULD KEEP MAKING BETTER BESTS!

Put the regulator on. The power valves should have NOTHING to do with this. Either the floats are not hanging right, adjusted right, OR as said, at high revs its just pushing them down do hard it's over filling the bowls and coming out the top.

Either way, if its running 13.8 like that, I bet you'll be knocking on 12's at some point with some tuning.

My bet is that you will FREAK OUT graemlins/beers.gif when you get the engine leaned out right!

Glad to hear!

??? I hate to even mention it and I am not sure how to check for it but what about valve float??

I talk to the guy who sell me the 850 Holley carb and he admit that he block the power valves passage  ,the carb was running so well that I did not even change jets went I got it ,
But the thing that amaze me was that doing the tunning I jet up to 4 (more)sizes and the motor hesitate a little before opening full throttle .and went I was jetting it was leaving getting better .
Still a lot of work ,first to put the regulator and start from there to keep jetting up to compensate the remove of the power valves

coyoteBLuff Valve float :( , that was my first though ,I got the correct valve springs but you never know ,I will do the simple things first and keep an EYE on the tach very close .this motor now go 6800 rpms , and I was only shifting at 6000 ,want to get back home with the kids and wife not pushing the car smile.gif ,
But this is what I like about TC MEMBERS everyone give you there best thought and you go from there . graemlins/beers.gif
