When going to a solid roller from the HYD roller should one put oil restricters in the rear of the block.....

Scott,
If the engine is going to see any street time at all, I would not use them. Crane even specifies that in thier solid roller instructions. Solid roller springs need as much lubrication as they can get when run on the street. Keeps them cool.
Just my opinion,

I do not use restrictors in any street or endurance type engine except for ones with spring oilers in the covers.
The only other exception might be a drag race only deal.

If the oil can't get out of the heads try to improve the return passages, as Bill said the springs need to be cooled,, & the lifters need lots of oil.

Thanks guy's......The motor is all apart....I'm dropping it off Monday morning to have the block hot tanked..... One of he two bypass plugs above the oil filter was full of metal ...Hoping that is why my oil wasn't staying in the filter ...The cam bearings were all worn a little bit with the rear bearing worn bad 180 degrees around.....again hoping that is part of or all of my oil pressure problem.....

I am going to put all new bearings in...the mains just went in a few days ago so that leaves rods and cam bearings.fully cleaning the block etc....

Now for some more ......One of my valves was all white ...piston looks great but it looks like head will need some work also....no big deal ..Just some more time.....I'm feeling much better about this whole thing and am very glad we took it COMPLETELY apart now...As I would have been pulling it out in the very near future for much worse problems and a broken valve etc.....

While it's out and apart can you guy's give me any fast cheap upgrade ideas etc.... graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Scott,

Do you have any idea where the metal came from?

Cam and main bearings......But we think most of the bigger metal came from the dist gear problems I had last year....I ate up two dist gears and tried to wing it and looks like I should have torn it all apart then....I still feel prety lucky that we cought it before it did crazy damage....
