I know my opinion... but I 'd like to see how you guys feel.
Should the team move on... as it seems they're trying to do and is probably better for the teams future, or should they take him back just because he's Brett Favre.
Also how do you guys think both sides are handling the situation.

What amazes me is the lack of communication between team owners/managers and players, especially a marquee player that will go into history as one of the best to ever play the game. Who are the fans to believe? The money hungry owners or Brett Favre? Dahhh! The owners are KILLING thier own business in the worst way possible. They're in a no-win situation.

Release him - Brett plays for another team because Green Bay doesn't want him?

Keep him - Make him compete for the starting job? That's a slap in the face.

Keep him - Make Aaron Rodgers sit on the bench another year? Pretty crappy thing to do to Aaron.

I REALLY feel for the Packers fans in this case. Unless a quick resolve happens, this will be a tough season.

How about just seeing how some Packers fans feel about what's going on ;)

He wants to be released. He came out in the media and asked for a release. They should release him.

The Packers are going to lose this fight. Why? Cause he is BRETT FAVRE!!!

Does anyone think he was playing the 'I want a bigger contract' game and they called his bluff?

I can see the teams side of this. An unconditional release and the team loses whatever value he has as to trades/money. He could go to another team in their division and end up beating them twice during the regular season. A trade outside their division is probably best for the team.

While he has been a great star, players that do what Favre has done, handcuff a teams plans for the future. It's a no win situration for both.

AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE SCREEN NAME I AM A DIEHARD FAN.CAN SEE BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY.AM SURE COAH AND GM WANTED AN ANSWER SOONER THAN LATER ON IF HE WOULD PLAY OR NOT.I DO BELIEVE HE HAD MORE TIME THAN HE IS SUGGESTING THOUGH.THEN WHEN HE CONTACTED THEM LESS THAN 1 MONTH LATER AND SAID HE CHANGED HIS MIND THEY SAY THEY WOULD TAKE HIM BACK THEN HE CHANGED AGAIN.I'M SURE HIS FAMILY HAS SOME INPUT ALSO.REMEMBER,AT AGE 38 HE'S PROBABLY BEEN PLAYING BALL FOR AT LEAST 30 YEARS AND TO ALL OF A SUDDEN NOT BE PLAYING PROBABLY MESSES WITH THE HEAD SOME.WHILE I KNOW HE WASN'T THE BEST EVER TO PLAY THE POSITION HE WAS AT LEAST IN THE TOP 4 OR 5.HATE TO SEE HIS REP RUINED BY THIS

I don't think it is a money thing on his part. I think he is unsettled about retirement. I suspect his family pressed him somewhat into making the retirement decision, after all the family members are the ones that get kind of lost in the whole shuffle. I really feel bad for him.
I know what it is like to not do what you really loved to do for a living. When I was told I could not drive truck ever again it was a killer. I still have a hard time with it.
Now you have a guy that can still do it and it cannot be an easy thing to walk away from. Look at Nascar drivers that retire. Only a few like Harry Gant stick with it. Most end up back in a seat within a year.
What he should have done instead of retiring was stepped down to a backup position, but even that would not be fulfilling and the fans would always be pushing for him to be put back as a starter.
There is no winner here no matter what happens.
As much as I would have liked to see him continue to play, I think he should just enjoy being healthy enough to enjoy his retirement.
Favre on another team, I personally hope we never see it. :)

I voted to let him go, but one way, I want him to stay. Dallas was killing GB when he was playing and that "rookie" almost pulled off an upset. ;)

Seriously, I think the Pack should let him go. This nonsense about protecting his "legacy", is just that...nonsense. His legacy is ruined for the next two years (the media will find something else to exploit) anyway. The Pack organization can't take his name out of the record books and if he goes to another team, it's not like he's going to take game film. If he's not worried about his own future, then why should the Packers?

I agree he's not the best at his position, but I think he's in the top 10 for sure.

I agree with you on that one. Unlike the doofus that ran headfirst into the wall, the QB from Washington a while back. The name will come to me later, but you guys know who I'm talking about.

I don't want to see him play for another team. Anyone remember Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs? Exactly.

Gus Frerotte I think. He was on a roll when he pulled that little stunt. Never was worth anything after that.

Personally as a guy that lives less than 20 minutes from Lambeau Field, I say let him go. He has played this retirement game for far too long now. Aaron Rodgers has patiently awaited his chance to prove he can lead the Packers and he deserves it.

I see no harm in letting Favre go to another team. He has at best 2-3 years left in him. He isn't going to learn a whole new system and plays quick enough to be a threat to the Packers or anyone in my opinion. The last few years with the Packers has proven that to me. The Packers have a very young team and as such a lot changed, and Favre did not fair too well at all in that change. Once things were back up to speed he was back to his old self. He doesn't have enough good years left in him to go out without embarrassing himself.

He should look at what Reggie White did when he un-retired, or even Michael Jordan.

Yep that's him, he played a few big games as a back up while in Denver, but never met expectations in DC, I think they even lost the game he did that in ... or it might have been that ridicuolous 7-7 tie... against the Giants , ( I hate the Giants) :D
but that's been the story of the Skins QB's for a long time now.

Packers rookie management's pride has added up to a rerun of losing Holmgren.

McCarthy made the play calls (tons of screen passes) that lost the '07 playoff game.

Brett's manager is not doing his job of managing Brett's flip-flopping.

His wishy washy retirement thing has gotten really stale in a lot of fans' eyes. Last season he shed the tears, said his farewells and walked off into the sunset. The fans accepted it, and that was that. Now this crap comes up again.

Brett, you redneck bumpkin, you were the man but you made your bed. Now lie in it.

He went down in the books as one of the best and also WORST QB's in history. INT's, anyone? His inconsistant play was also the cause of many a shattered television around these parts, too.

Green Bay lived and died by this guy, and for him to slap us in the face like this, yet AGAIN, is totally ridiculous. If he ends up playing for another team, he will ruin any comradery we as fans hold for him.
