I have an opportunity to pick up a '92 4L80E tranny out of a C3500 for $50 bucks. It's probably not good for anything besides the core, so it will need to be rebuilt. I know $50 isn't a whole lot of money to invest but am I creating more headaches than I should and just find a good running tranny?

The 4L80E is a good choice for an auto OD in a Chevelle.
The good thing about starting with it, is you won't later have wasted the money for a weaker OD and have the make ANOTHER crossmember, driveshaft, etc.

Do it right from the beginning.

Cool. Thanks guys. I'm trying to educate myself on this tranny, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't passing up a good deal. I guess I'm not as worried about $50, but more because I didn't want to waste 2 hours round trip to go get it.
