Right now I have a plastic fuel filter connected with 3/8 rubber fuel line. What was the original set up?
If someone could post or send me a pic that would be great.

The 68 396/325hp & 350hp used a single steel fuel line and a small paper fuel filter that was inside the q-jet carb behind the fuel inlte nut.
In 69 gm went to the lrg inline metal GF432 fuel filter (3pc fuel line setup)that also made it into some aerly 07 L34's /396-350hp too.
Then for the rest of the 70 q-jet's ss 396(402's) L34 350hp and 454/365hp LS5 went back to the small in carb paper fuel filter and siglew steelline.
The solid cam'd motors like 396/375hp L78 & the 454/450hp LS6 that used 780 cfm vac sec holleys i believe also used an in carb fuel filter/s that were made of a bronze materail .
You can buy the correct fueline/s from yr one/ground up/opg,etc.

Nope. The '68 Chevelle big blocks, no matter what HP rating, didn't have an inline fuel filter. Here are pics of a L-34, a L-35, and a L-78. No fuel filter, just a steel line from the pump to the carb.
