As a (micro)beer fan, I've been watching this unfold for the past several weeks. When news sources reported the bid for Bud went from $65 to $70, it was gunna happen - no matter how much crying in their beer the nonstock holders and politicians did.

What do you guys think about this trend of America being 'For Sale' and what would you propose as a way to turn the tide and begin shoring-up the USA?? I think the most EFFECTIVE & REASONABLE methods will have to be economic and not some new law or bailout.......

Wait and see what this company does to their newly aquired company! They are well known for slashing jobs and increasing profit margins with any company they aquire. They claim they will keep the headquarters in St Louis, but for how long? How long before most or the product will be shipped from bottlers overseas? Bud sucks anyways.:D

I will never buy the brand again.

This company does business in cuba. So theres some regulatory hoops for them to jump through. Something with the trading with the enemy laws. jim

Save my rant on America selling out as the loss of Budweiser leaves more room on the shelf for something better tasting, like...tomatoe juice :p

Budweiser will always be brewed in the good 'ol US of A. Not because a European company wants to keep tradition alive, but for the simple reason that the ingredients of Budweiser are such crap that the recipe would never be allowed by any European purity laws.

If they do brew it overseas, it could only improve.

IMO, ultimately it will be the demise of this country. It just keeps getting worse and worse. From food to oil to beer to realestate, this country has become to dependant on outsiders.

This mornings news: we as tax payers are going to bail out Fanny-May that is owned primarily by foriegn investers.

Would anyone offer 52 Billion for your brew? :noway:

Pretty sad but we might be headed for NO jobs in America one of these days.
We wanted CHEAP prices and HIGH wages and we are getting CHEAP junk and NO wages.

I think its just a regular business cycle. The weak dollar makes alot of our products and companies prime for take over. China which has a lot of spare cash, from all the walmart products has been going on a shopping spree in asia, they bought out a lot of japanese companies. So its happening all over the place. jim

something to remember here is how much money Bud spends in sponsorships, advertising, ect. no matter weather you like the product or not, they are good for our economy, they are/were an American company. I feel this just helps weaken our economy even more

I AGREE.THIS COMANY IS ALSO WELL KNOWN FOR CUTING JOBS AND SELLING OFF PARTS OF COMPANIES THEY GAIN CONTROL OF.OF COURSE THEY PROMICE TO KEEP THE HEADQUARTERS HERE AND NOT CLOSE ANYTHING,BUT FOR HOW LONG??THEY WOULD SAY ANYTHING TO GET THE SALE TO GO THROUGH.ALL WHO OWN THE STOCK SHOULD SELL AND FLOOD THE MARKET WITH IT MAKE THE VALUE PLUMET THEN SEE WHAT THEY THINK.TOO BAD IT WOULD HURT US JUST AS BAD:sad:

All major brands of beer are "lame" compared to micro brews and high quality imports...comparing them is apples to oranges

I love good beer, but I ****ing hate beer snobs who just love to point out the obvious.

Sometimes you just want to have fun with friends and play games and chugging beer that's $8 for a 6 pack isn't a good way to go about it.

I've even brewed my own beer that came out rather nice, I'm a beer lover, not a beer snob and I understand every type has its place.

It just sucks when something like this happens. Imagine if someone bought out Coke...its the same principal.

I love good beer, but I ****ing hate beer snobs who just love to point out the obvious. No kidding... I like beer, doesn't matter what kind. I grew up on PBR and Old Milwaukee (whatever I could heist from Dad's shop-fridge :o )

Some of my favorite beers are the "cheap" brands. Natural Light for example... decent beer for $11.50/24-pack :beers: Anyone who'd thumb their nose at my choice of beer isn't someone I'd want to drink with anyway. :)

I think its just a regular business cycle.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Into the mix now are non-companys, quasi-companys (or whatever you want to call them) as well as "sovereign wealth funds" that are run by governments of some crazy countries I've not heard of before. This is not a normal business cycle, it is more like economic & psychological warfare unknown to the capitalist business model.

So fight fire with fire. How? Vote with your pocketbook obviously, but how about this for a quick fix: The governmnt itself needs to play this game and buyout some oil companies in a hostile stock takeover just as Inbev did with Bud. It's cheaper than the pending bailouts (and the FDIC deposit insurance looks underfunded too). Oil is a core problem. This is a marketplace solution that may buy time for America to reorganize itself before utter financial collapse. They did it with ConRail in the 70's and kept railroads alive when they were self-destructing. Now the banks are doing the same damn thing. This is very, very serious stuff guys because all of these financial bloopers are proving to be linked across our economy.

Miller - South African owned
Coors - Canadian
Bud - Belgian.

I am half tempted to no longer buy bud products. But, the american worker still benefits, and what kind of lager pisswater can I drink when its hot out?

Hi Guys ,

I live in Belgium , land of beer ...:D

I'm not a beer drinker myself , I prefer to drink red wine with my meals , but when I drink beer , it's always independent brands like "Duvel" or "de Koninck" ...

http://www.duvel.be/

http://www.dekoninck.com/

As a matter of facts , INBEV was a joint venture between Interbrew & AmBev , but my impressions about it are that AmBev sucked everything from Interbrew , brains & knowledge .

The headquarters might still be in Belgium , but I think it's an empty shell ...

Anyway , I don't like all those major groups buying other major groups , everything they produce will taste the same within years ...

I'll surprise you but the best beer in the world isn't belgian but czech :

Eh, to each his own, but we've got LOTS of micro-brew snobs out here where I live. There is a local brewery that has won several national awards and nearly every bar in town sells their products. Some don't sell anything else. Listening to the MB snobs whine at my Super Bowl party every year gets old after a while. They come back though, so it must not be that bad. If they don't like my Coors or Budweiser they can BYOB.
