Working on my 71 ss chevelle. Power disc brake car. Put a big block in with dart heads and i need a smaller booster for clearence. I see 9 & 7 inch boosters and even some talk about F body boosters? What works ? Im willing to buy the whole booster and master setup,so i can bolt on and go. Will a 9inch booster give me enough clearence for tall valve covers?

I scanned the threads and couldnt find any info on this topic. Thank you!!

Do a search on the booster and you will find plenty. You will not be happy with the smaller booster if you like power brakes.

If your going to have a fairly large cam/low vacuum condition with those Dart heads, probably better off going manual brakes and not worrying about the booster than having low vacuum with a small booster.
I had 3 1/2 inch tall valve covers with the stock booster. Barely had enough clearance, but the low vacuum condition I have and a booster = horrible brakes. After talking to a few people and doing a lot of research, I ended up with a Hydroboost. Lot of clearance now and awesome brakes.

Hmm i was thinking that. Ok so if i want to go manual disc, what do i need? Would i have to change the porp. valve? is there a plate or something that you mount to the fire wall to go to a manual master cylinder? thanks! big help guys!

searched through many topics, doesn't seem like anyone can agree on a master cylinder.
Im trying to find one for a 68 camaro with manual front disc. I found this one...

Anyone have a part number for the 68 man disc that they have currently in their car and is working?

I run a Dual 8" booster. The new cam only pulls 10" of vacuum and the brakes are great.

Big cam? No Vacuum? GO with a Hydro-boost, smaller than any booster and all the assist you will ever need. I run a 1" piston bore size master cylinder with Baer track system brakes and this set up gives me good pedal feel and awesome brakes.

I bought it on ebay. It was really cheap, but I thought I'd see how the quality was. The master cylinder was bad right out of the box, but they sent me a new one. The booster is really nice, and work well with only 10" of vacuum at idle. Sometimes I get a stiff pedal but it is still stoppable.

I talked to acouple guys here running dual 7" boosters that say they work great with low vacuum also.

Here's a link to just the booster.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-CHROME-DUAL-STREET-ROD-HOT-ROD-BRAKE-BOOSTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el 1262QQcategoryZ33566QQihZ004QQitemZ140119470697QQt cZphoto

If you want the whole kit contact them and I'm sure you can get it. It was $165 for the booster, brackets, adjustable rod, clevis, master cylinder, and a chrome master cyl lid. There is a phone # on the ebay page.
