I just got new hood insulation for my 64 Malibu... what do you recommend to install these with? I have some 3M Trim Adhesive, the stuff in the spray can that would hold ANYTHING in place. I am thinking of using that. Any other ideas?

how about the proper plastic push clips that GM used? you can find them almost anywhere- i think in the Help! section, even.

Mine are just inserts inside the framework of the hood, That holds them in. No adhesive.

Factory hood insulation does not use any fasteners. The edges slip inside the cut-outs, but the backs need to be glued in place or else they will sag and fall out.
You need to ask for "contact cement" at a parts or chemical/paints store. I applied some in a "zig zag" pattern on mine. Still holding some 10+ years later.
Also, although this might seem obvious to some, there are still people that put this stuff in backwards!!! The "ugly" fluffy/shaggy side faces towards the engine, the "nice" flat side is what gets glued to the hood. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. Coppertop is correct, there were no clips of any type used on my car. As I removed the original insulation, I could very clearly see that some type of adhesive had been used during initial install. The 3M spray that I have is essentially contact cement in a spray can. You spray both sides, wait about 5 minutes, then push into place. But if I use this I have to mask EVERYTHING, because i don't want the funky overspray this stuff leaves behind. But I will say that it holds like cement!

I used the adhesive in the can...worked great!
