Wow, I think I'm reaching the end of my tolerance.
Motor is a '98 Vortec Gen6. I received it in '99, don't remember the person's name. The balancer that is on it always has looked weird, but I've gone forward. I swear it looked like it had NEVER been removed, and absolute factory stock.
The motor never came with a front pulley drive ... so I got the part number for a serpentine crank pulley. Received it, the pulley looks like what I would expect.
Now the problem ... the balancer has a "hub" cast into it. This hub has 6 threaded holes, and moves the position out ~1.5" from what a normal balancer face would look like. And, the holes centerline will not line up with a '69 396 crank pulley, or my new serpentine crank pulley.
Has anyone ever seen a balancer with a hub sticking out the front of it. Is it possible somebody switched them? How would I find an appropriate balancer?
Tonight I'll try taking pictures, since that's about the best way to describe ... but anyone have any help?
Thanks, Neal
