: Cam suggestions for a SS454 show/cruise car?

Guys, give me some suggestions for a cam that would replace a stock LS5 cam in my SS454 car.
Here is my plan...
Pulling my numbers matching LS5 out and replacing it with a visually identical non-numbers(obviously) motor. I'll still be running the Q-Jet carb and all the stock accessories but, I want to install a cam that his a bit of a lope but, nothing that will hurt my power brakes vacuum. I looked at the Lunati/UD hydraulic cams on the Summit website but, $160 seems kinda high for a hydraulic "off the shelf" type cam. I've used a General Kinetics 224/.510 lift on a 110 CL hydraulic in the past but, the lope was just shy of what I am looking for now. So, I am needing some affordable suggestions from you guys.
The car will pretty much only be driven to cruise-in's and car shows but, I would like people to hear the musclecar sounding lope when I cruise in.
By the way, the compression should run about 9.75:1 with the heads I have ready to use.
Thanks in advance.

SILVERSS454,

The Lunati "UD" hydraulic cams are not "Off The Shelf", but custom-made to order. This is why it takes a little time to get them.
I use Part #30299--This means a custom BBC hydraulic cam-- with this grind number 02-UH11-UH28-12-A01 to replace the LS5 350HP cam.
This cam is 266/270 at .0045, 211/220 at .050, .500"/.500" valve lift, and 112 LSA. It has my usual sound, and pulls hard from idle to 5500. My daughter used the UH11 as an intake lobe in her 383 with 195 AFR heads---I sent her to the 10th grade with such an animal. The engine ran for 8 years without replacing any valve train parts.

Instant lope recipie: just change your ignition vacumn advance source from the manifold vacumn to a ported vacumn source. Try it, it should work with what you have to make a lopier idle, and is easily reversable for those times when you don't need your ego stroked.

;) Used to do that with the old Crane 114 LSA cam!

I'm surpirosed Chris didn't chime in with his 454 cam, the old UD 280/88. On a 112 lsa, the idle might be a bit too smooth for you, but the pwoer level above an LS5 grind should be substantial. Have it done on a 110 for a bit more ( likely alot more!) lope.
