As some of you may know from my other post's I am restoring a 69 SS 396 that I bought in May of this year. I had removed the body from the frame to inspect top of frame and replace body mounts. Have replaced fuel and brake lines with stainless and set the body back on the frame. The car is now next door at a friend's doing the body work and is coming along nicely. He does great work when he puts his mind to it. Plus I don't pay until I'm happy. I don't want to jumo around too much on the car. For example at the moment I am building the engine abit sooner then I had planned because the one I got from the salvage yard was seized do to water getting into it. They gauranteed this was a rebuildable core so I need to make sure it could be saved, and it was. So rather then let it sit all apart, it's going together. I was thinking the best way to do this resto is to divide the car into sections. Do the work from the fire wall forward, then move into the inside, then rear and finally off to paint. Does this sound like a good idea or is there another way that makes more sence?

Get your rolling chassis done painted and all. Wrap it up real good and put some wax on it when you wrap it just in case some overspray gets on it, it will wipe right off. Do the underside of the body and coat or paint, paint the firewall, then you can set your motor in and then finish body and paint, reassemble. Exhaust and work out the bugs. That is how I would do it if it were me but 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.
