I am in the process of restomoding a 68 El Camino SS 396. I have decided to replace the instrument panel and original steering wheel with aftermarket goodies. The instrument panel is in fair shape, a few cracks and minor rust on the gauge faces. The steering wheel is split in 6 places on the rim but otherwise all original. Can anyone give me a ballpark guess on what these might be worth if I decide to sell them on Ebay? I know they are somewhat rare pieces and don't want to let them good too cheap. Thanks for the help.

it depends on what your calling gauges ..... if you have the IDIOT light dash you might get a fair amount for the dash panel if it doesn't have the normal cracks & the radio isn't cut out ....... the instrument panel with lights you'll be lucky to give it away ....... on the other hand if you have the U14 guages some where around 1k dollars is what E-Bay madness is bringing nowdays
Usually the higher priced ones have the factory tach. no tach and they can be found way less than $1k. The valuw in your steering wheel will be the SS or SS396 emblem. They can go over $100 or $150.....
Wow Just did a quick search on Ebay and found this:

That is a repop stick on emblem. The real ones can bring as much as $100 for the SS396 and about $50 for the SS emblems. First off we need to know what steering wheel Steve has. An uncracked or restored deluxe steering wheel can sell for $600 to $800 but badly cracked ones usually don't bring $20 or so.
Is the car a factory air car? What condition is the dash bezel in? The bezel may be worth more than the gauges.

Ive got 2 of those horn covers, one with the malibu, the other with a bowtie. Are they worth anything? Sorry for the hijack. jim

Yeah I realize it is just the emblem. Still seems cheap.

I haven't seen a repro of this emblem available. I figured his stick on comment in the auction was just misinformation. I concur with your perspective.

I have seen the shrouds in okay shape for $15 at the swapmeets but that was a little while ago. I was lucky and scored an NOS shroud here on TC for $15 when I was restifying Old Blue

Thanks for all the replies guys. Just to clarify what I have, the dash carrier is in fair shape...no A/C, a few small cracks near the ash tray and a chip missing from the area that circles the steering column. The mounting holes for the radio knobs are still there though they have been chewed up a little. The instrument panel itself has idiot lights, no tach or clock. It also is in fair shape, just a little surface rust on the speedo. The steering wheel is split in 6 places, each one about a quarter inch wide. The shroud and the SS emblem are in very good condition, the emblem being the original with the screw post on the back. The car was built later in the model year so it has just the SS and not the SS396 found on earlier models.
