My most recent pass at the track produced these results:
2.204 - 60ft
5.943 - 330ft
8.984 - 1/8 mile et
81.68 - 1/8 mph

I know I need to improve the 60ft time by a lot, do you think the car is capable of 8.50's?
Thanks

you have the MPH to go very low 8's

Even if he gets his sixty foots down below 2.0, he's still looking at an 8.4 at best, unless he finds some more power (i.e. more MPH).

I think 8.5_ is a good goal.

I had a similar situation a few weeks ago. My 60ft time went from 2.3ish to 1.829, yet my 1/8 mile ET and MPH did not change. I thought maybe the timeslip was wrong, but alot of folks have told me the car must have just hooked coming out of the hole, but the end result was not really affected. I was confused becuz I always thought improving the 60ft yielded better numbers??

I've been 8.65 at 80mph with a 1.91 60ft time. If you get everything right, you can probably go 8.50's.

Thanks for all the replys, I'll see what better traction will do.

350 turbo w/11" TCI convertor. I would have to say you still have some tuning issues. Give you an example.......I have a 69 camaro with same basic package as you ........except mine is a holley systemax package. ( I would actually rate your quality to be better) You did not mention you stall speed????

My car went...

60'...1.88
1/8th...8.202 (best time..I hit in the 8.2's and 8.3's)
mph......84.5

I have a 2700-3000 stall and I do have a better carb. I still have some hp some where in my tuning. All I did was set the timing when I had the package put on my motor.

without knowing the gear or convertor it's impossible to say for sure what it would run. i've gone 8.20's @ 81mph in the 1/8mi with 1.73 60's. my 93 Z28 also runs 81mph, but it only ET's 9.00's with 2.00 60's. it's all set up and weight. he has a little better set up than my 355 was as far as motor. mine ran a best of an 8.56@79mph with a 1.76 60ft. that's with 4.10 gears, 26" tall tires, and a 10" coan convertor. needless to say it was all in the launch and first gear, it really didn't pull that hard from the top of second gear on. i think his combo could run better than mine as he has a better cam and better cylinder heads than i had. all it needs is the rest of the set up similar to what i had. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Last year at Music City Raceway, I hit an 8.403 @ 83.77 MPH with a 1.901 60'. This year I am going to try and launch it a little harder and see if I can get a 7.99. I just hope that sun is covered up by some clouds that night. It makes it kinda hard to see the tree when the sun is right in your eyes.

I guess his MPH is good for 8.50...I dont know why I thought I ran the same MPH

My stall speed is approximately 2600 RPM, I have a 3.73 rear gear with 28" BFG (275/60/15) tires.
Traction is the biggest problem, I have to roll out 10-15 feet and then get on it.

I have a best of
2.290 60ft
8.368 594ft
8.927 1/8
80.49 MPH

this is on GoodYear Eagle GT2's my best 60ft ever was 2.230
The distributer is set up properly runing at 32* all in at 3,200. I have not tride jeting up but would like to to find more mph.

Just thought I'd add my combo as a bench mark for you.

I'v bin to the track 2 times this season both days its bin open. and have bin runing 9.2's all the way to 9.6's I would not be good at bracket racing. my mph is usualy 81mph . top of my list is some mickey ET's

I heard that mechanical secondaries can improve times over the vacuum secondaries.....others here will know what I'm talking about ;)

Not so sure mech secs would help that much, might hurt, with a tight (<3500) converter.
