I used a set of nos door handle gaskets and they are cracking like this??
What gives. I did not over tighten them either and they have been on the car for 2 months. So I went out and got me a piece of inner tube and cut some out and to fix that problem and the ones that I cut out look way better than the gm nos ones. Look close at the Gm gasket pictured.
Just thought it would be easier to tell everyone about this and save your money before you go out and buy the new GM junk.

Several things could cause this. If the gaskets are truly NOS, then the rubber is probably more than thirty years old. Rubber breaks down over time and the quality of the OEM rubber was probably not very good. If I recall the exterior trim and paint only had a 90 day warranty on a new car back then. If the gaskets are reproduction then the materials probably are not U.V. resistant. It is always a crap shoot buying replacement parts for older vehicles.

I'm with prefectca on this. NOS gaskets are 35 plus years old

...And the Trim Parts gaskets are waaay off. Overages and voids. I think I'll stick them to the handles with 3M black weatherstrip adheasive and exacto the overages just to get by.

My REM door handle gaskets have split and the car is never outside except for shows and cruises. Sun sure hasn't been the problem here, just poor quality materials.

I'd just take an exacto to it.

I put the oversize repops on mine and tightened the handle down. Then I removed the handle and used a small pair of scissors to trim along the impression left behind.
