Has anyone used the Spin Tech mufflers and oval tubes for clearance with a BBC? I am looking at a custom exhaust and was wondering about sound quality and flow. I will want to use 3.5" pipes after the headers. I am looking for clearance but also performance.

Thanks

I used the 3" Spin Techs and they were loud. performance was excellent though.
0 mph loss in the 1/4 with them on or off.

What model were you guys running? Looks like SpinTech has quite a few. Their Sportsman Street or Sportsman Street XL are supposed to be very quiet at idle.

Jeff Kinzli has spin techs on his blown 67. There is a sound file on his page:

LXS388 ( i think his name is) runs spintechs. he said they sound awesome, on a worked engine. compaired to flows... flows were just noise, with techs, u could hear the cam perfect.

ive heard a few of their soundclips, and am sold on them, but money is really tight.

The Spin Techs seem real popular over at the www.dodgemagnum.net (http://www.dodgemagnum.net) site. Sorry for crossing brands here but I have a Magnum R/T also. Seems they are preferred over the Flowmasters by many. I personally am a faithful Flowmaster guy.

Are they as loud as the Bullets ????

When letting off do they cackle, pop, like a cherry bomb ??

I am looking to dump the flow masters for a better flowing muffler but I'm one that still likes loud.....  just not bullet loud.I was thinking maybe a one chamber race Flowmasters but I'm afraid that to will be to loud also.

I`ve only heard them when coupled with an X-pipe.

They have a sound all their own; a 2 stroke big block comes to mind, or maybe a huge chain saw like 500 cu.in. on nitro with an expansion chamber.
They have a high pitched, buzzy, resonating rasp that at WOT sounds like 10,000 rpm instead of 6500.

One thing`s for sure, you`ll have people coming up to you in the staging lanes looking to see what`s making that "sound"
