My full sized starter solenoid it almost touching my header. I was going to wire it but know that the heat will either kill the starter or melt wires. I was wondering what starter you guys would recommend for this.

Is a DP mini the same solenoid dimentions? Is there a starter that has a little flexability?

Most all mini starters can be clocked for solenoid position. On my big block I could run the solenoid on the top side but it is close that way. I plan to run it on the bottom side, looks like lots of room that way.

:confused:do your headers have a coating on them, that really lowers the temps.....
mini-starters are alot lighter and easier to install, can be clocked, but alot of them can not use the factory brace and the gear is also not supported on the outer tip.........

It's not uncommon for headers to rest or be real close to the starters and most seem to make it OK.

My headers are older Headman and they are just painted. You think I ought to give it a crank? Or should I change it out? I still can get full refund for the part now and order a mini. I just hate to mail order a starter and end up with a different issue........

If you have a little room left you could add an aftermarket starter heat shield. I had headers for over 30 years on my Camaro that just about touch the starter....it works fine. How did those old Headman headers get old if they burnt staarters up?
