: 7.05 NEW BEST!!!
sheetmetal Jul 10th, 04, 12:29 PM 7.05 et, 1.56 60' at 97.51 mph. to say yhe least im pleased. heres the story. was going to put a RPM intake on and ported it to a 1206 gasket, removed the Super Victor only to find the heads were ported to 1206 in height and not in width so the RPM was over ported. i gasket matched the Super Victor and did quite a bit of plenium work and put it back on. yesterday was cloudy all day keeping the weather a bit cooler than normal for July. 7-8 degrees cooler than normal. im guessing th pass was made at about 80*. next on the to-do list is skinnys up front and locked out timing. im hoping to get the 7.00 slip before fall shows up (maybe not). Rafel (67RS502)says 10.90s are in the bag, possably 10.80s. Thanks to Ken Jett for walking me through the tack ordeal. still lots of "i dont knows" but will get it sorted out. Dave
69chevelle355 Jul 10th, 04, 12:32 PM graemlins/hurray.gif congratulations....thats QUICK!
Pat Kelley Jul 10th, 04, 1:27 PM Great work. graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Looks like you'll be needing a roll bar before long.
DragRacer Jul 10th, 04, 1:32 PM Congratulations Dave!!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
427L88 Jul 10th, 04, 4:27 PM Ah, its a 67 AND a small block. Too very cool points IMHO!!!! ROCK ON! graemlins/beers.gif
BillsCamino Jul 10th, 04, 5:01 PM Very  graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Looks like you need a rollbar NOW !!
A 7.05 works out to about an 11.05. Anything quicker than 11.99 requires a rollbar around here.
Awesome!
Marooned...you watchin' this? ;)
Pat Kelley Jul 10th, 04, 5:35 PM NHRA requires a roll bar at 7.499 in the 1/8.
sheetmetal Jul 10th, 04, 5:39 PM YES!!! the roll bar weighs heavy on my mind. i watched a backhalfed car cross the center stipe last nite and hit the wall. put a different persective on things for me. my car far exceded my expectaions. its over 3500lbs and rev limited with a hydroroller, just a tad over 10.5 cr. i was suprised the port work on super victor picked the car up. im sure the weather played a part in it but cant say how much. last night was a .008 increase.
kjett Jul 10th, 04, 10:26 PM Way to go Dave graemlins/hurray.gif Glad to hear that things worked out for you. I just got back in from getting my tail handed to me in a points race :( Oh well, even losing at racing is better than not racing at all. BTW, I'm guessing 6.8s are in the bag with a few more tweaks and some better air ;)

70_FathomBlueMalibu Jul 11th, 04, 12:21 AM Sheetmetal, congrats!
Please check out the thread in the Cruiz-In forum regarding a get-together we are having in Houston. We'd like to see you there.
thrasher Jul 11th, 04, 4:39 AM Not bad bubba.
Ya still nunning the 294HR cam and the ported 195AFR's?
How high does that ATI 8inch flash?
sheetmetal Jul 11th, 04, 1:05 PM thrasher- yes im still usng the 294hr, im thinking at some point of a custom ground cam. maybe something on a 108 centerline. my cranking compression is 180 so im thinking i might be a little over cammed. i need to get someone to spec me out a different cam. the converter looks to be around 5k if im reading it right. 70-fathomblue-- im not sure where in houston the meet will be, but my car is not very "long trip" oriented. from the pits through the traps back to the pits i burn little over half a gallon of fuel  but thanks for the invite.
marooned Jul 12th, 04, 11:22 PM Yup I am Bill.

thrasher Jul 14th, 04, 4:38 AM Did you decide what you are going to do with that Motown intake?
Let me know before you send it back if that's what you decide.
sheetmetal Jul 14th, 04, 2:08 PM Trasher: the intake went back last monday, sorry. Dave
thrasher Jul 16th, 04, 3:33 AM :(
What was the casting quality like?
Did you check it for the carb flange being off?
Any feedback you can give me?
sheetmetal Jul 16th, 04, 1:16 PM thrashr: the inside casting was a little rougher than the super victor. the short turn radious into each runner was far better than the super victor. didnot check the carb flange. the super victor was off a little bit and had to do a little relief work when i ported the intake. the wall thickness on the motown was thinner in the runners. the valley pan sticks down about 3/8 of an inch further into the valley. the 4 corner cooling holes are 3/4 pipe instead of 1/2 pipe the supper vicor has. the space between the runner dividers that stick into the plunium measured halfway up from the port floor is 3/8 wider. the port floor is 1/4 narrower. the runner dividers are a little thinner than the super victor. thats about all i remember about it. Rafel may chime in with what he recalls about it. oh! when i put a 4 hole over each intake the intry into the runners appeared to be better on the motown before port work on the super victor. Dave
