hey all
i installed a lincoln mark vIII fan in my '70 with the painless fanthom relay kit,it worked fine up until about a month ago. the problem is that the car will be stone cold and the fan will come on anyway,and stay running until i shut the car off. relay? circut breaker? what gives?

Could be temperature sensor.
Could be relay.

Not entirely sure about the specifics of that setup but you could try disconnecting the sensor and see if the fan turns off. If so the sensor is the problem otherwise the relay.

tonight the fan didn't come on at all,it got to 250' for a min.
i popped the relay out and noticed 1 of the terminals melted.

those fans draw a lot of current, what s the amp rating of the relay?

on my mustang i used a big electrical fan. i bought a 50 amp relay fro waytek's website, and a 50 amp circuit breaker from west marine. no problems yet.
