: radio in 70 chevelle
70.chevelle.malibu Jul 7th, 08, 11:29 AM I have a 70 chevelle that needs a new radio. I'm not to worried about making the thing "thump", I i just want to hear some quality music over my exhaust. I'm really not to thrilled with the idea of putting a cd-changer in the trunk or glove box.
Does anyone know if they make a radio that fit the original place and plays cds?

TCSS1970 Jul 7th, 08, 1:12 PM Not without mounting an aux cd player somewhere's. Theres just not enough room without modifing the dash in the stock hole. Sorry.
MidLife72 Jul 7th, 08, 1:20 PM Found this the other day on the JEGS web site when I was looking at a radio for my beast.
Not sure how good it is, but is a option to look at.

bowtie6872 Jul 7th, 08, 3:34 PM PIONEER MAKES A DIN SIZED BOX THAT YOU MOUNT UNDER THE DASH..
get a cheap,broken c/b radio from a flee market..
remove it's face... and little hooks to hold it on the poineer box..
when you use the radio the c/b face folds down, when parked.. the c/b face hides your radio..
as a c/b would be corect for a 70's car.. not factory tho.
70.chevelle.malibu Jul 7th, 08, 4:27 PM i guess the only way to go is to cut the dash.... I just don't know if i can bring myself to do that. I'm young (15) and don't want to do anything I'll regret.
Malibulvr Jul 9th, 08, 3:37 AM Either way its your car do with it what you want. I doubt you will regret cutting it but you can always keep the stock radio in its place and mount another in the glove box. I had mine sitting loose in my glove box for a couple years, LOL. You can always fab up some sort of mountng plate for inside the box.

Jim Mac Jul 9th, 08, 9:41 PM Like Ive said before, just wire up a small amp in the trunk and run a 1/2" pin to a coax cable from the amp to a place beside the seat. Then you can hook up your Ipod to it. no more cd's to lug around. Jim
509Merlin Jul 10th, 08, 10:57 PM I used a Pioneer receiver, Alpine amps and speakers, mounted receiver and amps in trunk with a marine type controll for a boat mounted inside the console, with an ipod hooked up to it I can play a lot of tunes and have a bad ass system that is out of sight.
