: Need fuel pump advice

I'm currently running the stock AC pump, but I'm looking to upgrade to a better pump. The thing is, I do NOT want to run a regulator, and it needs to look stock or pretty close.

I was looking at a couple of Carter pumps (M4889 & M610456), but have some questions:

- they're both close to pressure-wise to needing a regulator: anyone ran one of these pumps without a regulator?

- also, how big of a pain in the butt is it gonna be to plumb one of these pumps to the stock fuel lines?

If anyone has any other suggestions for a hi-flow stock looking pump I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance...

Both of those pumps are virtually the same internally, the big difference in max flow ratings (120 for the 4889 and 172 for the 61045) comes from the fitting sizes. The 61045 is set up for AN-10 inlet and AN-8 outlet, huge X large in other words. The 61045 will be limited by the line you feed it with, anything less than an unobstructed -10 from the tank forward will decrease actual max flow. The 4889 works fine with 3/8" line from the tank forward. I've used both pumps on the street with a Holley carb and no regulator with no problems.
