"what better that a th400"

A Power Glide....with that much HP and light weight it seems a no brainer

OH!!!! daily driven and 1300+HP isn't some thing you here everyday...I had no clue that a little supra weighed anywhere near that much...I would talk to Steve Oldani(been200mph or transman)..he can hook your bud up

I think there's only three to consider, our TH400, the MOPAR 727 or the Ford C-6!! (But I don't know if a SB Mopar 727 is rated the same as a BB MOPAR 727??)....

I mention this b/c I have a good SB 727 core...

they only make the conversion kits for chevy trans. i didnt think they were that heavy either until i was talkin to him and we weighed it at the track. its a full interior, A/C, ps,pb, basicly power everything with a 6 point bar in it

With that much power it might take some doing to get it to leave with a stock first gear ratio of 2.48 so if he decides to put a 400 Turbo in it he might consider a glide or reducing the first gear in the turbo to something like 2.20 or thereabouts. At any rate he will need all the beefed up parts he can find. Better put bigger and stronger parts in the whole driveline.

I know a couple 2JZ owners who have fared very well with glides. Both were 9 second vehicles... one was a supra and the other was a toyota truck with a 2jz swap. A TH400 will be cheaper however, but depending on your setup many times isn't as fast at the track... but probably more street friendly if he drives alot on the street.
