This months Chevy HP they have a 5 page layout on a 2005 Chevelle. I guess it isnt made in the US but it has "rich american pride" And it hasnt even gone into production yet from what I read. The more I looked at the photos it somewhat grew on me, I couldnt help but think how much it looked like a rice rocket or some type of import. It has its highs and lows I guess.... anyone seen it?

I started to read up on it...but then I had to leave so I never finished the article :( I was under the impression that it was still a concept vehicle and that there were no plans to actually produce one, but I definately like like it :D

I think if Chevy was to bring back the real muscle cars,(Chevelle,Nova,Monte Carlo, REAL Camaro's and Corvettes) people would buy them up quickly.

As a former ricer, I used to laugh at what the domestic cars have become...but I knew that no matter how much NOS an import had he couldn't compare to the good ol' fashioned American muscle graemlins/beers.gif

From what I read in the article, this is NOT Chevy's car. This is a car that CHP and Hot Rod drew up based on the GTO, it says that in the editor's letter on the first few pages. Apparently they want Chevy enthusiasts to petition Chevy to go forward with this car. I read it and the performance numbers were impressive, I was not blown away by the styling. I guess I just had it in my head that any "new" Chevelle would have a special look to it.

I don't give a rat's as- b/c I have had it with being jerked around by GM trying to make all the cars in the world bigger and supposed better which equates to EXPENSIVE!!!

You really want a hopped up Expensive Cad.??? Or a hopped up EXPENSIVE Limited Ed. truck??

Expensive Vette???

How about a $50,000 SUV???

The suckers won't sell a cheap American made high gas mileage Corn-popper Cummuter Car that will last forever like the old Chevy Sprint ER and Metro 3-bangers for us working guy's so screw them...

If they would I would ALSO buy a powerful toy from them for the weekend, but NO!!!!

I think it is a real hoot about all the recent GM recalls b/c they sure must be making them right the first time!!!

pdq67

PS., and I have had what is it, 9 counting my 2 Suzuki/Chevy Corn-poppers AND all of them except the old '52, '55 and '57 and the 2 Suzuki Corn-poppers, I had trouble with!!!

AND that's not counting all the other cars I have had so go figure...

Sorry for the rant, carry-on....

Thats why we make our own cars here :D I agree with you, new cars and new prices are insane. And by the time you pay them off you need to do SOMETHING to it.

I agree with you Greg on the body, the back is kind of interesting the way it looks aerodynamic, a little slick looking. But not too impressive. A strange car and article, Im going to read it again. :D Someone post a pic ;)

All the pictures are computer generated by a guy with a Japanese name!!!!! The thing is actually a GTO that was profiled in the latest Hot Rod. Would love to have one of the new GTOs but with the MSRP and first year bugaboos that are sure to occur I think I'll pass. Plus I would like to work on it myself but don't have a PHD in electrical engineering or a 10K Snap-On diagnostic tool.

i tried to get a discussion on this last week, but nobody took to it. the Chevelle concept is just a slightly different version of the GTO, which looks like a sunbird crammed a grand prix in the ass. which almost makes it look European. yikes! keep them things overseas GM, no thanks! they aren't even American made anyway. i can't believe the nerve of GM to try and pull this crap off on us. i may buy an '05 mustang, it at least has gone back to it's roots with styling and performance, and it's made right here in the states. and it doesn't look like a Focus rammed a Taurus in the ass! :D

YOU GUY HAVE TO REMEMBER A FEW THINGS, THE GTO IS
USed VERSION OF THE AUSTRAILA HOLDEN(THEIR CHEVY)
THE GM BRASS FINALLY REALIZE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT BUYING THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CRAP AS PERFORMANCE CARS, DUH ! THE GTO IS A TIDE US OVER CAR TILL THEY CAN GET THEIR OWN US REAR WHEEL DRIVE PLATFORM READY IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. WHILE I DON'T CARE ALOT FOR THE STYLING OF THE GTO OR PRICE, BUT THEY ALL ARE OUT OF SITE THESE DAYS, YOU CANNOT DISCOUNT THE PERFORMANCE, IT'S AWSOME FOR A NEW PRODUCTION CAR, SO YOU HAVE TO GIVE GM CREDIT FOR THAT, WHILE VERY FEW OF US OLD CAR GUYS ARE LIKLY TO RUN OUT AND BUY A NEW GTO OR EVEN A NEW CHEVELLE IF THEY MADE IT THE UPCOMING YOUTH DOES LOOK AT THE NEW STUFF WITH AUH, MY 18 SON THINKS THE GTO IS THE SH#$ AND HE THS LS1 ENGINES ARE JUST IT !EVOLUTION CONTINUES, ROB...

That has to be the ugliest bastardization of the Chevelle name that I have ever seen! If GM were to build something that ugly(its actually a HotRod magazine concept design), I would NEVER buy another GM product again!
GM has already proven how out of touch they are with their killing off of the F-body....for me, it was almost the last straw. I may get some flak here but, of the two F-bodies, I thought the Firebird should have been saved above the Camaro. No offense to Camaro owners but, the last 2 generations were VERY generic looking. The Firebird actually looked fast sitting still!
And now, ChevyHiPo magazine throws this piece of crap out to stir up a frenzy! If I want a Honda or Mitsubshi, I'll go buy one. If GM ever builds something visually similiar to this concept, people will stay away in droves and then the Chevelle name will be retired forever. Overall, not a very respectful way to treat the most popular musclecar ever to appear on the planet!

It's funny how they all spent probably billions to convince us to buy front wheel drive when their cars got so bad that the Jap's were flat kicking their as- with their Front Wheel Drive's!!

Now, I can just see it!! The greatest thing to come down the pike since the front wheel drive revolution IS the new "REAR WHEEL DRIVE"!!!

And it only costs $5,000 to $10,000 more so you just gotta have the new and improved rear wheel drive model!!

Does anybody realize that the GREATEST auto maker of all times, (IMHO), never made a front wheel drive car AND I will bet you that if it was known, it was b/c the SOB's are naturally inferior for handling and were deamed so unstable as to be called dangerous!! Try M/B!!!

Go to the Boney-- er, Recycling Center and check out how front drive's end up. They slip off the road and then get over corrected, which throws them into a spiralling, front corner flip as they spin around the heavy front C.G. point!! AND if you are in the back seat and aren't belted down, you can get thrown out the rear window in a HEARTBEAT b/c of the spin!!!! CHECK IT OUT!!!

NO, I'm not buying this hype anymore!!
