Looking at a SB someone put in a ford truck. I'm told it's a 350 but have my doubts. The color is that weird blue and the dip stick is on the drivers side. Any ideas without checking the #'s. Any help would be grateful, Thanks Doc :ee

The Old " Target motors were blue, which the color itself doesnt mean a thing, who knows how many times its been painted. Look for #'s on the pad at the front of the block on the right side. Look at the distributor location, water pump, exhaust manifolds.

If it's a targetmaster, it should have Henco En Mexico cast into the rear of the block behind the drivers side head. It could be anything with a drivers side dipstick, from a 265 to a 400. does it have a short waterpump? a third boss for a middle freeze plug? It's going to be difficult without some casting numbers/stampings.

According to spanishdict.com (http://www.spanishdict.com/) hecho = deed, done, fact, feat, made.

I wonder if it is hecho a mano

Small block Chevy engines were blue starting in 77 or 78 I think.

I'm 38, and back in college for a second round. I'm going in a different direction this time and studying business management. I thought electronics was boring, but this stuff is really a snooze. :D

Chevy motors were painted a darker bluish-green starting in '77, and the dipstick was switched sides in about '80. I think only the 267(not sure on this one, production may have started after the dipstick switched), 305 and 350 were made between those years. Unless there's an easy way to tell the difference between them, your only way to know for sure without measuring the bores would be to check the casting numbers.
