I am in the process of an engine swap in my 66 Chevelle, I am trading a 454 (LS6) for a 454 (LS7). The new engine was in a Corvette and the oil pans were different. The new motor has a windage tray installed on it and it would not clear the baffle on my Chevelle oil pan. So I used a cutting wheel and removed the baffle from the original pan. I was talking with my friend and he said I may have a problem under heavy acceleration & braking due to the oil sloshing toward the rear and front of pan respectively. I plan on using the car for an occasional trip to the drag strip. Should I go the distance and buy an oil pan from an after market vendor like Moroso or is stock pan with no baffle okay?

I run the stock 4-quart Camaro pan & stock oil pump with no problems...not near the drag car that some of the guys here have, but it runs ok...

Watch out for the Milodon Pan for a Big Block. It will not clear the crossmember. I had the #39955 (I think) on a Gen V that woudl not fit. $200 bucks down the drain. It may just be the one for the Gen V

anybody
want it ...cheap $$

Okay, Thanks for the inforamtion. I think I'll remove the windage tray & studs and go with the stock pan.

I've removed the factory small baffle from smallblock pans and used the z-28 style windage tray with no problems, so I think you'd be fine there. The corvette pan with baffle and factory windage tray is an excellent setup but the pan will not fit with the chevelle crossmember. A friend of mine used one in his drag chevelle for years but had to notch and box his crossmember for clearance.
