: Need quick answer
staindsoul Jul 5th, 08, 12:58 PM Hi, talking to this seller who is willing to sell for $17,500. Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290243302521&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123
Before I make the drive down there, just seeing if the masses thought this would be a good price if everything turned out to be true. He told me that the pistons are 350 bored 30 over. What does that equate them to?
Don_Lightfoot Jul 5th, 08, 2:19 PM Love the colour Jay, but don't care for the stripes to be honest. It needs something on the side, like the lower rocker moldings or wheel well moldings. I think a .30 over 350 works out to be 355 CI.
staindsoul Jul 5th, 08, 2:24 PM Hey thanks for the reply. I will look into the moldings. Really looking for an answer on the price and value of the car. Is $17500 a good price if everything turns out to be true?
Look in your other post. That car has some issues.
warped Jul 5th, 08, 2:27 PM Not a bad llooking car at all.
A 30 over makes it a 355cid,It looks like a pretty nice restomod some of the thing's that stick out to me are the 68 front clip with shaved marker lights.
also the door panels arent really a selling point for me,they look odd and kinda outta place...but original repops are fairly cheap.
I think you could get another 500 to 1000 off to buy some nice ceramic coated headers, the stock manifolds look out of place with the rest of the detailed engine compartment.
On the other hand to put a 69 grill in wont be cheap,it's not just a grill swap like alot of people think.
Depending on how far you have to drive...i would think $15 to 16 might be a good deal for you.
Good luck......Rob
Jeff74 Jul 5th, 08, 3:42 PM I would check all the numbers on the car lots of 68 parts on the car
staindsoul Jul 5th, 08, 4:27 PM Hey thanks guys for all the input. Looking back on it, I see the difference in grills. I emailed the seller to see if he would do better on the price. Will keep you informed.
Turn 180 degrees and run.
This car has so many things wrong with it, I don't know where to start.
Is it just my computer, or does everyone else see the passenger side door waving at you? There's definitely some major bondo there.
The 68 front clip doesn't help.
There's no resale value in these kind of custom cars, imho.
I wouldn't give them $5000 for it.
The rear bumper is terribly misaligned.
You can do a whole lot better for that kind of money.
staindsoul Jul 5th, 08, 4:46 PM Thank you for your help. I am definitely going to turn and run on this one after all the input. I am trying to get smart on these things so I can catch them for myself but until then I will continue to make posts.
On a side note, if anyone knows of any good deals on a '68-'72 SS clone that is $22k or below, please let me know. Thanks!!
CRUZN69 Jul 5th, 08, 4:47 PM 68 front bumper also.

Jay, for around 22k. you should be able to get a pretty nice car, probably even a real SS car, especially in this soft market.
I'm glad you are asking questions and doing your homework. Just have a lot of patience and the right car will come along.

71pipedreams Jul 5th, 08, 4:53 PM looks like you could fall through the gaps between the hood and the fenders. looks like the body lines on the doors dont quite line up. kinda silly to do all that work and not put some headers on, or at least paint the manifolds. i like the color though. i would definately ask a much lower price.
rubadub Jul 5th, 08, 4:58 PM Something isn't right, looking at the door and the body, it looks like they rounded the outside edge of the door to get it to come out half way straight with the body.
Take a good look looking down the side of it, plus the body line close to the bottom of the door is up on one end and down on the other.
They won't give you a clear picture of the underside, I would watch it on this one.
You can have uneven door gaps, but the door and body sides are hosed.
I probably shouldn't use the word hosed, but how else could you describe it. Back bumper is out to far, this thing probably got hit, and when they did the quarters they got her out a square.
You have to watch the door and quarter edges on these, you will see a few where they try to taper the edges in gradually, thats why they look almost like there curved in.
You get this when you don't get decent metal alignment and bring out the filler to blend her in.
rubadub Jul 5th, 08, 5:26 PM I found this as an example, look at the drivers side mirror and below that for a couple of inches, its straight, whereas the car your looking at is blended in, the lines of this black one flow good.
Hope I explained this okay.

Pitbully Jul 5th, 08, 6:42 PM Is it me or is the rear down low?
mwiggett Jul 5th, 08, 7:30 PM I'm not sure it would be street legal without the side marker lights.
bigskycountry Jul 5th, 08, 8:08 PM No way is the car worth the buy it now of $22,000 let alone $17,500. Some new front end parts, bad gaps ( as already pointed out) rattle can resto underneath the car. Looks like fresh paint, who knows what its hiding underneath.
warped Jul 5th, 08, 8:22 PM I'm not sure it would be street legal without the side marker lights.
It's Texas....
Don't need no stinkin lights to be street legal, just a gun rack and a general lee horn........j/k:hurray:.......Where i'm from, people take thier ridin mowers to the drive-in movies.
The rear bumper is a '68 as well. On the plus side it has double the reverse lighting then stock.:p
needanewchevelle Jul 5th, 08, 8:42 PM I wonder how he made that custom ss hood :noway: run -run fast!
jfkheat Jul 5th, 08, 9:07 PM No arm rest and looks like a small hole in the headliner near the dome light. The headliner installation leaves a little to be desired.

DougA Jul 5th, 08, 10:29 PM I'm no expert, but it looks more like a 68 than 69 to me,including dash and ign switch location.Something smells like fish. If you buy it check all the numbers real good.
staindsoul Jul 5th, 08, 10:35 PM Hey Doug, I am definitely not buying that one. I liked the color but there are too many things wrong with it. I will be sure to post my next potential purchase when I find one. Thanks again for all the help.
Jim Mac Jul 5th, 08, 11:13 PM is the seat release a 68? of are they on the side in 69? jim
ssjeff396 Jul 5th, 08, 11:20 PM That car is a 68 with 69 taillights and housing. See front and rear bumpers, also the grill and front clip. Notice the key is in the dash. 69 moved to the steering column. Notice that the seats are side mounted back release and not in the back like 69 up.
lloydt2442 Jul 6th, 08, 7:52 PM have you checked your local craigslist? maybe even oklahoma its not to far! I found this one today on the Dallas craigslist but its in Tulsa
http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/737752167.html
and heres one in arlington
http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/736609889.html
both cars look like a good deal!!
staindsoul Jul 6th, 08, 7:54 PM Yes, I saw that one... not a fan of maroon. Guess I could always repaint it.
I know this is a subjective question but how much can you expect to pay for a good paint job?
lloydt2442 Jul 6th, 08, 9:08 PM it kind of depends! sometimes it looks good and then you get to looking at whats under all that paint and it turns into a mess! I would guess 3500-6500 for a good paint job but if it just needs sanded down and shot it might be cheaper!
